Hi everyone!
If you wanna go straight to the photos:
http://www.ictp.trieste.it/~radosic/Italy2004/spilimbergo.html
Review:
Place: Medieval town in the middle of the cornfields, North-East Italy, close to Venice
Setlist (by IRiMiKi):
1. Over my head
2. Indianola
3. The way you treated me
4. Lovin' cup
5. Keep on runnin'
6. Homework
7. ? (between the two, we didn't get what song this was but there was a special guest appearance by Larry Coryell on this one)
8. Chevrolet
9. Badge
encore Start it Up
Well, this experience was too overwhelming for me to even
begin to describe - so I won't. I'm still on a cloud...
(apart from the amazing concert, I met iRiMiKi for the first
time and had alot of fun sitting next to her - she's wonderful
and so this Message Board has brought together some fans!)
And Hilary - if you're reading - I'll never forget this experience and the
genuine friendship you showed me! I'm without words.
The concert was a bit short but we got two and a half hours of
scottish folk music afterwards to make up for it
I'm glad I got to say "Hi" to Daved.
He remembers my name from this Message Board.
Not that I didn't want to say "hi" sooner but the man NEVER stops
working!
And Dewayne was so CUTE and Bob and Robben - thanks for the concert and for the autographs!

Awesome pictures. And a wonderful venue. Wish we had places like that around here.
Is it just me, or does it look like Robben's moved his guitar up a couple notches in the strap? _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

The missing song was "Moonchild Blues". Larry also sat in on "Chevrolet" and came back up for the encore. We thoroughly enjoyed hanging with Larry for a couple days. He really ripped it up on stage, didn't he?!?!
It was nice meeting you too, Suzie. Busy though I was, I noticed that Hilary enjoyed chatting with you.
Yes, the concert was a little short as we were only alotted 1 hour. Of course, with the enthusiastic demand for an encore and Larry's trading licks with Robben, we managed to squeeze out a few extra minutes.
Glad you enjoyed it. _________________ B C-ing U!

Thanks for sharing the review and photos Suzie!
Wow.. Larry Coryell sure has changed since the meeting of the spirts stuff ('79?). It must have been fun watching the two of them together. I think it would be cool if Robben had some "guest guitarists" on stage more often. You know us guitar players (well, probably most of us) love watching a couple greats trade licks! hehe
Italy sounds like a different planet to me, having never left the west coast of US before.. |

Great photos!! ('Tho I'll make an honest confession: More close-ups of Hilary would be fun.) Many thanks, Suzie.
Also, I've pretty much assumed that the perfect places to hear Robben and the band are places like Santa Barbara, Ojai, and Hollywood, CA, USA, etc. From the long shot of the venue, however, Spilinbergo looks to be a wonderful venue. Maybe the next time Robben tours Europe would be a good time to cash in all of those airline miles.
Thanks again! _________________ - BlueRunner |

So Marin come over my place, and you will be like Jojo ( glad to go back where you once belonged).
Today i went to social welfare to have my last job took in consideration and they told me : " You know we've made a mistake it's our fault but you owe us worth 1000 bucks, now you can try to write to us to avoid this ".
Did you talk me about a berluscoworld????????
I'd rather go deep into the bush ( Warf, barf , arf, i'm feeling like garfield).
Arnold i am coming . |

kirk95: Thanks! I'll try uploading some pics on the "New Live Robben Photos" site when I have some time.
elizabeth: I hope that sooner or later we will meet at a RF concert! We could organize to surround him by a bunch of girls (including ourselves) and kiss him to death! Robben beware!
Aeolian: The place was quite unique. I forgot to add that when it was time for the sound check, the band had to wait for the worshippers to finish their prayers inside the medieval church opposite the stage.
Daved: Thanks for the missing title. If it wasn't for iRiMiKi, my setlist
would've been: 1. um.. oh yeah, that one! 2. yeah! I love this song
3. I like this one 4. LOVIN CUP!!!!!!!! 5. The one that's on the CD
6. 7. 8. 9. BAAADGE!!!! 10. concert's over
midc74: I gotta tell ya the truth: it's the first time I've heard about
this guitarist. He was pretty amazing though!
BlueRunner: More close-ups of Hilary you say???
Check this out! http://www.ictp.trieste.it/~radosic/Italy2004/spilimbergohil.html
(I think that there's no better place to see a concert than the good ol' U.S. of A.)
Bluelobster: I TOT I TAW A PUDDY TAT!!! (I was just waitin' for the right moment to say that...)
marinblues: Ciao Marin! Wanna jam? |

Hi Suzie,
It was so great to see you in Italy! Thanks for posting the pics (where's that one of me and you?) on the board and all but damn, I sure do make goofy faces when I play the drums. I'm such a nerd...
Don't forget to send me your address so I can get that drumstick situation worked out, okay?
I just want to say to everyone on this board, ITALY was wonderful! It was so beautiful, the people were great-everyone made us feel so welcome, and of course the food was absolutely superb! I ate way too much pasta of course, but hey, I just can't hold back it Italia!!!
Having said that I'll also say that it's also good to be back in the good ole' US of A! I love my country! Every time I return from abroad I feel like kissing the ground when my feet touch the beautiful American soil.
Our trip back home took a little over 24 hours and we were all pretty exausted when we finally arrived at LAX to say the least but it was a fantastic tour.
I hope everyone enjoyed the concerts. I sure did! |
