The cartoon character - my favorite: Tweetybird,
always says "I thought I saw a pussycat!" when he sees Sylvester the Cat, but Tweetybird can't pronounce TH, S or C, hence
"I tot I taw a puddytat". Then he goes: "I did! I did taw a puddytat".
His grammar isn't perfect either! But that's what makes him such a cute character.
I guess in french, as in the italian translation - it's different.
I think in Italian they make him just plainly say "I think that's a cat".
Maybe in french it's just "c'est un chat" or something.
Anyway, yes, I just felt that an apology was appropriate. I agree that the promoter's rep or whoever was there with them should've thought better than to leave a van full of valuables unattended in a busy highway parking lot.

No need to apologize, there are good and bad people worldwide and no matter how hard one tries to protect oneself from the bad, they always find ways to harrass.
The good ones made our trip very enjoyable.

Actually, we "weird american people" were parked in a very public area, literally right in front of the building's entrance, near a security guard, at high, sunny noon, with all doors securely locked (as checked by our Italian promoter rep, our Italian driver, and my 'weird' self) with nothing of value visable from the outside of the van. Our Italian driver was very consciencous as he returned to the van about every 5 minutes to check on it during the 15 minutes we were inside the building, and that's how we discovered that the driver's door lock had been 'jimmied', right in front of the security gaurd.
I do take offense to your suggestion, blob, that I, and our driver, were any less professional then we were expected to be. Ask anyone involved with our travel and they will tell you that we both took extraordinary precaussions through out the tour, going far above and beyond the expected, to protect the band's gear and the passenger's possessions.
One cannot be all places at all times, predicting all situations. Maybe you should have been there to stand armed gaurd 24/7 for us. Tell me, how would you have protected the posessions in all the hotel rooms or the gear locked up in my room. (Yes, that is where I keep the band gear when it is not actually travelling or onstage... even if it requires me to manually carry it all up stairways... many Euro hotels do not have porters or elevators). Can you really spread yourself that thin? Are you really that omnipotent?
I take great pride in my the quality of my work and my responsibillities and I defy you to find anyone I have ever worked for who will tell you that I give any less than 200%.

It does NOT feel good. But, as you've obviously missed in my post, that stuff was lost by the airlines. Am I supposed to sit in the cargo bays during all the long flights? You don't need to apologize for photo taking, Suzie. Especially if you were discreet about it, not excessive with it, and did not use flash.
Robben HATES, let me repeat that... HATES, unauthorized video or audio recording, but he has never had a problem with photographs... until the last year or two.
And the ONLY reason he has problems with photographs these days is because, no matter how many times, or how forcefully he requests that people DO NOT USE FLASH, they continue to disrespect his wishes and keep right on blinding/distracting him. So disrespectfully, that he finally said OK, you guys wannna play that way... then we'll just make the rules simple and ban ALL photos.
Now, if you stand in the first few rows, right in front of him so to speak, and fire off roll after roll after roll of pictures... he WILL get pissed off. "How many pictures do you need?! Will you please stop?!" he will actually ask the offenders right from the stage. And, often, the person he is speaking to will laugh and keep right on taking pictures. I have actually seen him go to the front of the stage and kick the camera out of their hands when they continue to ignore him. (Ask the Australians about that, from earlier this year!)
And all the flashes!!!! They blind ME!!! I can imagine how much they must distract and interfere with his performance as they continually go off in his face like a severe electrical storm. He feels it is not only blinding to him, but also disrespectful to the majority of the audience who comes to see and hear him perform... not to watch a strobe light show.
Again, he WILL ask from the stage that everyone stop using the flash and they will usually ignore him. (And all of this is after we have usually had the announcement made, in the local langauage, literally moments before he enters the stage, that there be NO recording or flash photography. Just how disrespectful do people have to get before they drive him to quit performing all together? They have already started him, in recent months, turning his back to the audience or hiding behind his amp when they refuse to listen to him and respect his wishes. And, for those who don't don't believe me, then you have probably been too busy with your eye glued to the viewfinder to pay attention to what Robben is actually doing on stage.)
Now, IF you take a few pictures, WITHOUT FLASH, from a ways back in the audience, he usually will not get upset.
It's that simple folks. He, and I, really can't understand why MOST people just do not get it... and, if they do, why they are so disrespectful of him AND the rest of the audience to continually flaunt in his face that they couldn't care less what his desires may be.
NO picture after picture after picture!
NO flash!!
NOAUDIO OR VIDEO RECORDING!!!
What is so hard to understand about that?!?!?
Those who choose to ignore his wishes are just forcing him to diminish the quality of his shows and performances for EVERYONE. _________________ B C-ing U!

Just a few thoughts from this devoted fan:
I'm so sorry you had those mishaps, and I believe deeply in Karma. People who commit terrible acts will be rewarded in kind.
I hope I have never been one of those insensitive photo flashers; I never use flash, and I usually take only enough photos to get: one of Robben and one of his shoes! (Okay, I have taken a picture or two of you, Hilary, Dewayne, etc., but I do not like to watch from behind a camera.)
Daved, I have watched you so many times; most recently, from the cooling waters of the Russian River, and I am overwhelmed at the energy, hard work, and obvious love you exude when working with Robben and his fellow musicians. You are a key component to our being able to enjoy the music and experience in the moment, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Well Daved , i deeply apologize for having hurt your feelings , you're right sometimes i feel myself so omnipotent that i make a movie in my head.

Blob (and all the others) we appreciate your efforts to communicate with us monoglots in our language. I took French in high school as I thought it was going to be the international language. Now I can hardly remember anything (it took a long look to realize that Liz was using familar forms before I could try to figure out what she was saying). I think that maybe English became the international language, not because of any rational reasons like speaking population (that would be Chinese or Spanish) but because it suits politicians with all the possible subtle shadings of meaning.
When listening to a non-native English speaking person, I always figure that, as I did when trying to learn French, that you learn one word for something, or one way to say something, and then move on to the next idea. So I take each word to imply the simplest or most direct meaning. The facility that other people here have with English astounds me. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Language can be such a wall at times.
I appreciate, and admire, that you try to communicate with English as I myself, like many Americans, am totally useless when it comes to speaking other languages.
I'm sorry if you were trying to be complimentary and I perceived it as an affront. My apologies. I am probably overly sensitive about criticisms of my work. It is my craft, my art, and I take it very seriously, with pride in the quality I try to apply to it.
