Hello Tonemaster,

The Weber 1265 Ceramics are a great choice.
I put a pair of them in a Kendrick 4212(59 Tweed Twin clone) 3 months ago.I chose the Ceramics over the Alnico version after talking with Ted Weber,who described the Alnico's as being "Smokey and Warm".He said the Ceramic"s were a little brighter,but warm,clear and round.A great clean sound,with a smooth break-up when you pour the volume to them.
Every guitar I play through this set-up sounds AWESOME!!!
I may try an Alnico in my Tweed Deluxe,it should sound killer.

I've got a Two Rock Opal, it was Joe Mloganoski's "test" model, and it just sings through a couple 12" A Brown Soun Hemp Tone Tubby's. I was in a band with Terry Haggerty when John Harrison first got the hemp models and had us try them out - they are full range, not too bright like a JBL and they don't bottom out... and they hold up... According to their web site (www.tonetubby.com), both Clapton and Santana are using them now, along with long-time users Steve Kimock and Mark Karan...

Didn't know Fuchs made speakers - I tried their 100 watt head and cab at the NAMM show last year - it was awesome....

To amend my earlier post on this thread the Vintage 30's AREN'T bad speakers just finicky about the high end signal you send them. With a class A EL-84 design like the MAZ they might actually sound really good. Be warned that the mids are pretty scooped but the speakers have a striking presence about them that makes them stand out from the crowd. The bottom end will DEFINITELY NOT crap out.
I happen to like Celetion Classic Lead 80's alot because of their thick high end but in order to get them to "feel good" They need to be LOUD. What I have done to offset that nature is to mate them with other speakers to compensate. In a slightly modified Fender Dual Professional I run one 80 and one G12-65. In another 2x12 cab that I use with a Ruetz RJ-20 (class A EL-34's) I run one of the 80's and a Vintage 30. I hated the V30's in the unmodified Dual Pro but trimming back the highs and shifting the mids was the objective of the mod (sounds like a BF Twin now, not even close before). I should probably try the V30 again but it sounds great the way it is and I'm tired of "over thinking" such things and the screwdriver keeps getting stuck to the magnet. :-)
