Yeah, I saw Johnny A when he co-headlined with RF at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA a couple of months ago. Great stuff, lots of different sounds (blues, jazz, country). You'll definitely have fun. Enjoy!

Cap,
Yeah, i was lucky enough to catch Johnny A here in town last month on the 7th.He did an outdoor series put on by KGSR called 'Blues on the Green'As a guitar player i'm sure you're gonna appreciate him.He did 2 hours as a trio with just a short break, so plenty of licks flying around, but all well placed.I think of him as a' rock, chord melodist'. It might get a little bit much for the people as he sits down and there's no vocals. But even so he was well recieved here. He did a Hendrix medley to close it out.Be happy to hear your review.

Well, seeing how Johnny A was added to the Discussion Board, I think it's safe to say that kirk really enjoyed himself at the concert.
So, kirk, what say you?

Johnny A. was smoking! He is a great player and really nice guy as well!
He's from Boston and his bass player was from Rhode Island. I grew up in Boston and Rhode Island!
I wrote him an email on Friday inquiring if would like to add a message board to his site. I hit send on the email and within 10 minutes Johnny A. calls me up. He tells me he's in Colorado Springs and is doing a Denver gig Saturday night and invites me down to talk about it.
Caught the show at the Blue Bird a very small theater type club in Denver. Johnny comes out, opens his case, picks up his guitar, no guitar tech, tunes his guitar for about 2 mins, then launches into an hour and half set of tune after tune after tune. He must have played 35 tunes! He was playing one of his Johnny A. models through a 30th Anniversary Marshall combo and mostly boss pedal board direct into the board...no speaker. He sounded great!
So I just got off the phone with Johnny A. and his discussion board is a go. He's into it! So we add another killer artist to our Network!
Please come over and join the Johnny A. Discussion Forum! Johnny will be answering any questions you may have about his playing, music, cds and gear!

Great News about the Johnny A Message Board !!!!
I got hooked on Johnny A's music a few years ago after hearing Sometime Tuesday Morning. I remember being at the House of Blues in Cambridge (MA) for Robben's Blue Moon tour and seeing Johnny A standing next to the bar before show started. I said "WOW ! That's Johnny A. standing over there !" So like any rabid fan would do.... we went over to meet him
He was very nice and told us that he would be opening for Robben the next night at the Bottom Line in NYC. Oh geeeeeeezzz, i had tickets for that show too -- both the early & late shows ! So, not only did I get to meet him, but I got to see him play twice that weekend !
You gotta check out Johnny A's music if you haven't already !
I also went to the shows in May at the Regent Theatre and Johnny A. was phenomenal. He played before Robben at the early show and after Robben at the late show. What a great night of music ! Johnny kept playing & playing & playing till almost 1 AM !!!!!! I think he would've played all night if he didn't have to catch a plane to the Clapton festival the next day. I had to catch an early plane home the next day too... so i'm glad he didn't play all night Just kiddin', i would've stayed in my theatre seat & listened 'till at least dawn ! _________________ Travelling by train of thought |

Words cannot describe how incredible Johnny A. was at the White Mountains Boogie 'n Blues Festival this past Saturday. There were many a time that I found my jaw in the dropped position. Of all the great musicians and awesome music that day, no one compared- Johnny A. was in a league of his own. And, what a great guy too. He gave me a pick, signed the cd that I bought months ago, took a picture with me, and took the time to shoot the breeze. He and his band mates got a kick out of my name which, of course, I said was JohnnyZ...
If I ever figure out how to download photos to the Online-Discussion Photos site, I got some really great shots...
