I have dubbed my workbox, Lassie, in the tradition of the Collie of the same name.
Over impossible odds, Lassie has followed me home... good girl!
After 3 1/2 weeks of travelling the world in the hands of strangers and aboard the planes of, no less than, 4 different airline companies...
After all hope was gone and the grownups had all told me to face reality, chin up, and move on....
I spent one last day on the phone calling bagage handlers, supervisors, and agents all around the country untill I finally ended at that last chance, last hope, last prayer, all-fingers-crossed phone call to a USair baggage supervisor at LAX who stopped me in mid sentence to ask, "Is it black, rectangular, and supposed be going to someplace in Bakersfield? 'Cause that particular case is sitting by the door right in front of me. I've been trying to figure out all day what to do with it and where to send it."
"NO!" I told him. "Just keep an eye on it, talk gently and nicely to it, keep it warm and dry, but don't let it get away, and I will be there early in the morning to pick it up personally."
Lassie had come home to me at last!!!!
There are, of course, a few nicks & bruises, and her innards had been repacked in the most impossibly haphazzard of ways.
I can only imagine the exciting adventures she must have had while off on her own....
But she's home now and, with a little care & nurturing, she'll heal quickly.
And the sun breaks through the lightly rising mists of crisp morning air, sending spears of bright sunlight across the blossoming landscape whist the melodic voices of Disney singers ooh, ahh, and whistle uplifting PG call/answer tunes with the chirps, growls, squeeks, and tweets of a variety of life's funny, supportive, endearing... and animated... wildlife, who've all been gathering to act as dancers and background singers.
Yes, once again, it's gonna be a beautiful day.....

FANTASTIC! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I love happy endings, and once again, my faith in the human spirit is intact.
Daved, I am so happy for you (and I'll bet she is really thrilled to be home with the master!)
love,
elizabeth

That's an interesting question from BL there, Daved. How far can you go taking spares and tools with you? When I have a gig I basicly take one of my tube-amps and two guitars. I set-up and adjust my guitars myself and that also goes for my tube-amps. But I'm always in doubt what to take with me besides strings, picks and some basic tools. If my tube-amp breaks down, I'm lost. I can imagine that there is a big difference in approach wether you do a world tour or just a single gig.
What is your approach Daved? _________________ "Don't play what's there, play what's not there" Miles Davis |

Hi Lefty Funny enough you mention this , it happens to me since my amp is more than unpredictable , i always use to bring 2 guitars on a gig in order to avoid the broken string syndroma and if there is no broken strings you can do the guitar hero syndroma ((changing guitars according the tunes)),
so i have some spare tubes & FUSES, and being very paranoid i always bring my almighty mesaboogie V TWIN , so i know i can switch it along with my quadraverd on the P.A (not a bad tone but no more robbenish sounds) |

That's exactly the point, Lobsterman! It's a lot of luggage for one gig!
But what does one need during a world tour???

OK i stop,

I can imagine how happy Daved was to be reunited with Lassie, as he described it in poetic excitement while driving to see her. The noises on LA freeway have become music! Cheers! |
