So who'all on this board is headed to Long Beach next weekend. And who are you most excited about hearing? Bo Diddley? Rod Piazza? The guy who announces that the beer booths are finally open? _________________ - BlueRunner |

So ... anyone else there? Great weekend. Bo Diddley had to cancel due to health problems, but was ably replaced by the Blasters, re-joined by Dave Alvin (who also sat in with Little Milton). A ton of great blues, plus a nice dose of soul (Solomon Burke) and hip-hop (Macy Gray). The weekend closed yesterday with Buddy Guy doing a romp through the crowd with wireless guitar and mike hook-up. And through it all, I somehow managed not to get as sunburned as last year. _________________ - BlueRunner |

Bluerunner, Buddy did that same wireless romp at the Santa Cruz blues festival this year. But he was hooked to some horrible fuzz box and all you could hear was mushy noise. What did he sound like there? _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

JohnnyZ: How'd you know about all of those visits I made to the beer booth? Aeolian: At Long Beach it sounded like either a battery problem or a range problem. The guitar kept cutting out, and then coming back in with a big "BLAP" noise. Must'a driven the guys on the sound board nuts, but those of us in the crowd didn't care. Sounds, though, as if Buddy's crew needs to do a little more homework on wireless equipment. When this sort of stuff works it's great. (Examples: Rod Piazza, and Elvis tributeer Raymond Michael). When it doesn't work, well ... it's still fun. _________________ - BlueRunner |
