Saw Robben and his brothers for the first time Tuesday night in Coos Bay. It was a great show in a great venue and my pleasure to behold. The musicanship and interplay of the band made for a most enjoyable evening.

Anyone going to the Eugene, OR show tonight at The Jungle?
Mark has some crazy stuff going on with his harp setup -- using a volume pedal and some rack gear to break out with some non-traditional tones.
Robben used the Tele and a blackface Super and a blackface Deluxe last night in Coos Bay. Volker had a Les Paul and a Bogner. I think it was a Shiva combo -- anyone know which Bogner?

Yeah, Mark definitely takes the harp new places. I love his work with a volume pedal and long repeating delays.
Robben had a BF Super? Wonder what happened to the SF one he had in Santa Cruz? There's a picture of a BF one on Daved's site saying that it's Robben's and he was using it for rhythm tracks. Maybe he has more than one, and switched back to the BF? _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

The blackface super might have been Mark's. Mark had a Gibson Lab L-7 for a backup.
Is Robben known to use an AB/Y box? Maybe a Startouch -- he had some switching options going on. Robben was to move himself forward in the mix when needed. Excellent use of dynamics and the controls on his Tele. I knew he was a master musician, but this being my first time seeing him was an eye/ear opener.

Elizabeth's first gear report!
I thought it was a Morley. Some sort of ABY switch with LED's. First time I've seen him with such a set up, but it doesn't mean he hasn't done this before. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

For Elizabeth, Robben was wearing black jeans and cowboy boots. He had a black leather jacket which he wore pre-gig for his taped tv interview.
I was duly impressed with the musicianship of his brothers. Stood about 20 feet behind Robben's amps for some of the show and watched Pat play drums. Impressive to say the least!
I didn't go to Wednesday's Eugene show -- hopefully someone will post a report.

Went to the Jungle last night, my friend Catherine and I drove there from Bend. They were outstanding. Mark reminds me of Paul Butterfield, he is a very good harp player. Robben was using a startouch switcher and a small white pedal that looked like it had an infinity sign on it? Does anyone know what that is?

I was at the show in eugene also. The pedal was a Zendrive made by Alfonso Hermida. It made the tele sing with a really fat, sweet tone. |

Hello!
My 1st time posting here. Someone sent me a link to this thread. I'm a big RF fan and haven't had the opportunity to see him live. Hopefully when I grow up I'll be able to :-)

The last one was not bad but the previous one had us messed up for a few days.

I can think of two reasons...
#1 - You can get to the Riverwalk Blues Festival (Ft. Lauderdale) from there (Nov 19-21) http://www.riverwalkbluesfestival.com
#2 - You can also get to the Tampa Bay Blues Festival from there (first weekend of April) http://www.tampabaybluesfest.com
I'm sure there's other reasons... sun, fun, beaches, lots o' blues _________________ Travelling by train of thought |
