This is a frame snapshot from the Ford Blues Band, PBS video (Sierra Center Stage).

I thought it interesting that he isn't playing a 335 (as I had assumed without looking) in the shot.

It's a Yamaha.

Is this around the time he was also playing the Yamaha amps? I saw a shot of him once and there was a 2-12 Yamaha like Stern uses back there. Maybe they were working on an endorsement thing. Yamaha used to be really active in hooking up artists.

Back in 1979 I bought a Yamaha SA2000 (I believe that was the model), similar to the one pictured with Robben.
I had just gotten rid of a Gibson 335, and the Yamaha, to me, was superior in every way. It was a great guitar.

Saw him at a clinic in the early 80's. Yamaha guitar and amps (stereo rig).

The photo is one of several historical snapshots that were shown during the PBS broadcast of "Sierra Center Stage." The Ford Blues Band was the subject of this episode which featured a concert by Robben, Patrick, Mark, Volker, Dewayne, and Chris Cain at the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico, CA last year. Here's a link where you can see a brief clip from the show: http://www.sierracenterstage.com/sierracenterstage/featuredartists.html#fb

Looks like Mark to me. Pat has mentioned a possible DVD release, but I understand it's still uncertain for whatever reason.
