I have a Fender Am Std Tele which I bought in 1997. Yesterday, while taking the neck off (as you do Cool, I noticed on the underside, the part where the neck fits into the body cavity, the date Mar 10, 1997. All OK up to now. Then, on the edge facing you when you look down the neck towards the headstock, I noticed the date Jan 6, 2001. Anyone know what this date signifies?

This is the expiration date - your tele is almost five years past its shelf life. Time to go shopping!

Yes, that had occurred to me Laughing However, that's one shopping trip my good lady might not approve of.
