Not wanting to let Robben have all the fun, I just bought a '01 Historic '59 Les Paul reissue. It has a nice chubby neck, and great tone. The fingerboard was quite dry and light in color, so I rubbed it down with bore oil. I also put in an RS kit and Antiquity pickups (until I find something better). I am loving this guitar!

Here is a pic of the guitar in her case, and one with her new family.

Bill

And what a babe she is! I've been following the other thread about pickups and wondered which way you are leaning. WCRs? Or are you reasonably happy with the antiquities for the time being?

I think even Robben would be jealous, Bill..........................
What an awsome collection!
I always use your pictures to convince my wife I'm a very, very ordinary guitar player with my 4 El. and 2 acc. guitars. Laughing

Cool pictures, my wife does not understand how I can just stand there and look at my gear. I will look at your exquisite gear for a while. I hope you have many years of great sounds with it.

Thanks
Rob

I'm still undecided on the WCR's at this point. I want to wait until I can check out the Burstbuckers in a friend's guitar. I put the Antiquities in because I already had them (they came out of the Sakashta guitar), and so far I am really liking them. But I haven't compared them to anything else yet. So the search is still basically in progress.

Thanks. I do the same thing with my wife. I find pictures of some amazing collection of guitars and show them to my wife. It doesn't really work though. Wives seem to think that one guitar is enough, even though they need 50 pairs of shoes and dozens of handbags. A shocking lack of perspective on their part. Wink (I expect I'll be hearing from Elizabeth now. Very Happy )

I should probably have mentioned that the red RF guitar on the right was actually one of Robben's own guitars. He used it for the Tiger Walk tour in Europe in 1997, so some of you may have seen him perform with that guitar. It has most of the finish removed from the back of the neck. During the tour, the nut on the end of the truss rod broke off, so he had Dal sell the guitar. It ended up with a good friend of mine in the UK, and then eventually came to me. It is obviously one of my most prized possessions. I think I still have some pictures of it on my website.

I remember at a GC clinic when Tiger Walk came out, Robben brought this along. When asked about the sunburst, he said that he had "basically worn it out". He mentioned that the red one was so new that the finish on the neck was "still a little sticky". The next time I saw it at Yoshi's the finish had been sanded off the back of the neck and it looked as it does today. I think this was done by Jeff Rivera (pre Daved). What a cool score to have a piece of history. I got my signed copy of TW before it was released to the stores, but Bill ended up with the axe Mr. Green

Nice looking LP, Bill. I'll let you know about the WCR pickups. I should have them installed by this weekend. I got the Darkbursts.
