Kirk and I both have new amps! We are in love (with our amps that is!) Different brands and models btw.

How do you guys like these tones?? Baker RF on the clips that are not the H535 Heritage.

Hooray for thermionic bliss!!!

What a contrast!! This proves it is not my computer speakers Kirk.

Great tone & fat mid range warmth/smoothness. These clips have that, a la Robben tone. Nice phrasing too.

So the enigma of our Captain's sonic medium prevails Exclamation

What is your guess on Kirks amp Scott?

All the best

DD

Thanks DD!!! I know what Kirk has so it would not be fair for me to comment Smile I can say that I knwo for a fact that it is a SICK MOFO of an amp. He just needs to tweak his mics..... I assure you, he will do us proud!!!!

No, but it is a lot less than the Captains amp.

I have 3 new amps. 2 are R&D prototypes. All in production now.

The first clip was the 30 watt cathode biased model. The other clips were the 50 watter.

I suppose the prices on the 30 and the 50 are in the low 2k range. The 100 is a tad more I guess.

Here is a clip of the 100 watt SLX. This is miced different and has less bass. Only the way I recorded. The amp has all the body of the others. I was going for a real smooth tone here. http://www.scottlernermusic.com/slx/AussenJam6.mp3

I supposed you could have a cab set up with the mike permanently somewhere so you hooked different heads to it and you could always go back. I actually have a boom stand with a 57 that lives in it, that never gets the position readjusted. All I have to do it put it on the same dents in the carpet. An old trick from the Magnapan (realitively light panel speaker) manual was to weave thread into the carpet to mark the optimum locations before moving them out of the way. I've heard of one fellow who built a little motorized remote control mike stand so he could listen though the monitors while moving the mike around. I also think the angled mike technique is a little less sensitive than the straight on style

Have you ever noticed that no two Robben cuts have exactly the same sound? Either they're deliberately tuning it for each song, or his rig is really sensitive to placement.

I've been using a POD. Sad
But soon I'll get my Bassman back from Andy Fuchs... Very Happy
