So Gainster welcome. Now i am super nosy : Are you a chef in french restorant or a french chef in a french restorant ? Then if not french where did you learn how to cook french dishes???
Now do you know how to do a " bouillabaisse" or a tournedos Rossini or
a "cassoulet", and what about pastries??? "Ile flottante" , "paris-brest" ? mmm
Then did you manage to attend Grumpiness Master classes or it's just a part of your personnality ?
And are you grumpy because you are a "Chef" or it's just part of a Folkloric gimmick ???? I knew a french Chef and he was way more than grumpy........may be he should have play blues guitar....... Very Happy

An Italian friend of mine was a gormet chef in a nice resturant in Austria. The stress got so great he litterally passed out one day right in the middle of the kitchen. Found that moving to California and working in Silicon Valley was less stressful Shocked

Hey guys one and all, with the help of Kirk95 I have finally got back into the forum, couldn’t get in to save my life there for a bit so Kirk95 your a life saver.

Hey Bill what’s up! Long time no see/hear hope your rocking well over there, going to NAMM in Jan?

I will admit I played a small hand in hooking up Robben and Alf. Alf and I had been working together for a while as I have been putting together a stomp pedal board and I knew Robben would use what he calls a low tech board when he cant take out the Dumble and then uses rented or borrowed amps usually all old Fenders or the Red Knob Twins. Anyhow Alf sent me a Grinder, Mosferatu and a Zen Drive to check out and sent an extra Mos and Zen to see if Robben would be interested in checking them out. After a few months he actually got around to trying them and taking either out on a few gigs. After seeing the post that someone saw him using it, this prompted me to find out what he thought about them. Robben knows better than most that you need a good guitar and a good amp first and foremost and then pedals add some of the spices we look for while cooking in the kitchen. Anyhow as it worked out he really likes what Alf cooked up, he is not endorsing them but he is giving them a HUGE thumbs up and asked to hold onto both the Mosferatu and the Zen Drive for further tinkering. If anything he prefers the Zen Drive being played through a Super Reverb that Dumble had cleaned up for him but also likes the Mosferatu just found it to be a bit more Wild. So for the record Robben likes the pedals Alf is doing and has given him a green light to say Robben has tried one, likes it and now owns a Mos and Zen, but he is not to be quoted as an endorsee or Robben’s uses blah blah.... Hey Mikey, he likes it! From what I was told Alexander was there the day they A/B’ed both the Zen and Mos. Would have been cool to be a fly on the wall that day.

I personally have the Grinder and the Mosferatu in my pedal board and waiting to get a hold of the Zen Drive again. The Grinder is a full on Judas Priest assault rifle, the Mosferatu a great early Billy Gibbons tone and the Zen Drive I hear as a killer SRV, what more could one ask for in 3 killer aimed distinct gain tones. I play in a cover band so we have do it all from Judas and Ozzy to The Stones and Percy Sledge, southern fried and more... OH MY GOD! I just picked me up a Voodoo Labs Audio Switcher and their big ole Ground Control Midi Pedal so I'm slowly putting together a rack to keep the floor in front of me as simple as possible. I upload some pic’s once I get the rack built.

I've been doing an odd number of things while in this transitional state, cool thing is its all music related. Repairs have been my main method of growing the new business as well as a few people who picked up Bakers at the liquidation sale have brought them back to me for completion so that’s been inspiring and gets their guitars finished out correct. It’s a little lonely being a single man shop again but I really like the freedom and stress relief of it all.

I'm also teaching two evenings a week at a local chain store called Grand Performance that’s very active in education. They just held a big guitar wars competition where I displayed a small booth of what I'm doing. Great turn out, a 17 and under category and a 18 and over category as well. Marty Friedman came out as a judge as well as Cort, Roland, Ernie Ball, Tech 21, Peavy and others for a pretty cool event. Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to enter due to conflict as being an instructor for the store. Next year I think I got the store talked into a tag team half time show with their teachers letting loose on a few tunes. Its really cool seeing all the kids that have been picking up guitar and busting out a lot of old school tunes, Zep, Cream, I'm amazed at times and its very cool.

Last of all the band keeps me busy on weekends, keeps the chops up and puts gas in the car as well as some social yee haa's.

Robben and I have worked up drawings of the newest revision of his guitar that we hope to unveil early "05". I should be at NAMM but I won’t be displaying just playing tag with vendors and staying in touch with everyone. Who knows what I'll have in the hotel room. Other irons in the fire but no telling what they will become yet.
