Finally got around to recording a clip that takes the amp through it various modes. Starts out Clean, then OD and then OD with Boost.

Guitar is a R7 Gold Top straight into amp.

Playing is so so...

Comments welcomed....

Great sound! And the playing is nothing to sneeze at. This is you? And you gave up guitar for bass? I wanna hear you play bass. Smile

Amp sounds really dynamic and sensitive. Not too much gain on this clip and you can really hear the tone. Wonderfully full clean tone. What kind of mike set up did you use? Speakers?

Thats really impressive!
Is that the ODS clone that you are playing with?

Any chance of making it on sale?
I would like to buy it!

Thanks Aeolian! Yes, this is myself on the guitar. Gave up guitar because I could never find a bass player. Sad

Ok you asked, here are a couple of links to songs where I am playing bass. The quality of the Wind and Rose song is not the greatest. This was recorded with a local artist Tina Bailey a couple of years ago. The second is Texas Flood, the guy singing and playing guitar Clayton Mitchell who is Kenny Chesney's lead player, this was recorded live at a local club last Christmas. I was actually there doing the recording for the band. The second guitarist on this clip is Clayton's brother Judson.

You are right on the amount of gain being used. The Clean channel volume was at about 3 (the controls are labeled 1 to 12), the Drive channel gain was set on between 3 and 4 (pretty low).

As far as the recording setup I used an MCA SP1 mic (a very cheap condensor that can be had on Ebay from about $40.00) Mic'd about 1 foot away from the cabinet with the mic rotated off-axis about 45 degrees. The recording was made into a Behringer DDX3216 mixer feeding a Mackie SDR2496. Final track mixing was done in Samplitude.

The speaker cabinet used was a 2x12 oval back (similar to the ones I saw on your page) with EVM -12 L's.

Gary

BTW, I made it to JJ's while I was in SJ a few weeks ago. An acoustic player was there, pretty cool!! Thanks for the tip.

Yes, it is based around that type of circuitry. I added a tube driven reverb to the amp. Just can't live without my reverb.

Probably won't be selling these amps. Although I just ordred parts to build 6 more amps of various deriatives. The next two will be replicas of the first. After that probably a 2x6V6 for a friend of mine and a 100W version for me!!! I have already started on a 4xEL84 amp.

Nice tones... liked the clean the best! Wow 6 more amps!

You should play more guitar, it sounds great! Keep the clips coming!

Thanks for the comments. I will crank the gain on the next set, the overdrive was set on about 3 when I made the clip. I think I just might add a little post OD EQ to the amp. Just to roll the highs off a bit. May be add the whole three band eq who knows!!

My youngest son is requesting the same amp for himself, only in alligator tolex.

My goal for the clean is to sound like those first Two Rock Sig clips you made with the Tele. They were absolutely stunning! Bell like tones!

If my band has anymore weekends like the last one, I will be back on Guitar!!
