If I said "Northeast", then sorry, it came out wrong. That should have been Northwest. He's been approached about EXPERIENCING a very special one-off gig in November in Seattle, which he said he would love to do, but nothing has been confirmed yet so that's all I'll say for now.
Also, thru keyboardist Neil Larson as the conection, he's talking with a very famous southern blues/rock artist who is highly interested in having Robben play in his band in December and early next year. I'll keep you informed as I know more.
He will also be returning to Japan before the end of the year to play with Sadao Watanabe.
Otherwise, the Robben Ford Band touring is done for now. _________________ B C-ing U!

Seeing as November 27th would be Hendrix' 62nd birthday and he was from Seattle, this wouldn't be a reference to some kind of tribute concert would it?

So he does play a Strat on Tiger Walk.
When Tiger Walk came out, Robben did a clinic at the SF Guitar Center. He played Freedom over a backing mix on CD using a sunburst Strat he brought (along with the flame maple Fender RF he had at that time). When folks started asking about the Strat, he said that he wasn't really a Strat player, but more of a humbucker kind of guy. (Interesting to find out later that most of his stuff is Tele, P90 LP or humbuckers with the tap on). He used the same guitar at the first Yoshi's TW show specifically for Freedom. The next two TW shows he used the red RF with the tap on for this song. I'd never seen the Strat since except for a picture on Daved's page of it sitting in the studio where presumably Robben was trying it on some comp tracks. I've no idea if he used it on any other songs. Oasis is a possibility although he didn't use the Strat playing this live. At clinics when people ask these guestions, Robben often says he doesn't remember specific set ups. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

"Gregg Allman Tour Update
Gregg Allman & Friends are taking the winter off so Gregg can enjoy some much deserved r'n'r. He's been on the road with both the Allman Brothers Band and GA&F since 1989 and is going to kick back a bit."
Assumed the Larsen reference was to Allman, but see the above from his site.
Dr. John is the only other southern blues/rock guy I could come up with, based on the keyboardist's connections, but I may be missing someone.
I know someone who works at EMP in Seattle, and I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if they can shed some light on a possible Hendrix tribute. _________________ - Mayer
I checked with my contact at EMP here in Seattle, and he wouldn't give anything up, other than hinting at another "Experience Hendrix Tour" show that may in the works. Maybe that foots with Daved's comment...
The last couple of these tribute shows have been pretty successful, and have included folks like Billy Cox, Mitch Mitchell, Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton, Buddy Guy, etc. In the past, they have been about a year apart, so maybe they are putting another one together for the Paramount Theater in Nov.
Janie Hendrix is doing a book signing thing on 11/12 at lunchtime downtown, so I'm going to head over and ask her if another tribute show is in the works, if it hasn't been announced by then, and if the line isn't too long...
Maybe there is a tie to the "Power of Soul" releases in conjunction with another tribute show? _________________ - Mayer

Daved,
Sorry for pestering you, but any word on a possible Seattle show in the next month or so, per your original message? Or has this fallen through? None of my contacts up here have any info... Thanks, _________________ - Mayer

It was an invite from Mitch Mitchel & Billy Cox to do a Hendrix tribute show, but I haven't heard anything since so I don't know what became of it. I assume nothing, apparently, but this could be the kind of thing that Robben flies in with just a guitar & does on his own.
If I hear anything further, from either Robben or Dal, then I will be sure to let you know.
But, as of this point, the GA&F show proceeds to continue coming together as planned. _________________ B C-ing U!

That was a very rude and negative view of Hilary's playing.
You shouldn't base your opinion on feelings...when you review something you need to state the facts. How could you possibly know that Robben would have been happier with Tom B. playing drums? I think it is obvious that Robben is happy with Hilary's playing or he wouldn't have hired her.It is also not unusual for the drummer to tap out the click before each song.
I know that you think Hilary is a good drummer, but the truth to your review of Yokohama is that You really would have been happier to see Tom B. playing the drums. Instead of being Honest You throw the blame onto Robben and say you get an ESP vibe from him that he is not happy with her. Please!
I think you owe Hilary and Robben an apology~

LR, first, welcome!
I think you may have misunderstood, or misinterpreted, especially since it's your 1st post and (I'm just guessing) perhaps, you're new here. Anyway, I don't think what you read was a knock on Hilary, or a preference to Tom. I think that if you've ever seen Tom live, or in a dvd (which I only have), you would be very impressed with his talent. And, I have seen Hilary live, and she is without a doubt, incredibly talented in her own right.
Unfotunately, internet writing is one-dimensional, and what others are trying to say may seem different from what you think or feel...
And, I'm not trying to defend or make excuses for anyone. Just the way I see it...
So, please, try to understand, and enjoy this website. Lots of great people here...
