Robben,
Thanks for all of the inspiration and great music. It's nice to be able to show my teenage son ( and aspiring musician ) that there is a place for class guys in the music business. Happy birthday and I look forward to hearing you with Gregg's band in February. |

Our local public radio station, KCSM 91.1, played something off of "Discovering the Blues Live". It was fantastic! I will definitely ask Santa to bring me this CD. It was recorded around the same year I discovered you (1972). Thank you for sharing your talent with us! Happy birthday, Robben! |

I listened to my CD of "The Inside Story" yesterday in honor of the occasion.
This recording has always tied for first place as my favorite RF recording and/or favorite guitar recording. Tied with various other RF recordings depending on mood of the moment. Got the vinyl LP version when it was first released, eventually needed a replacement so now I have 2. Also got the CD version when it became available. Guess I couldn't do without it.
There is just a certain emotion that pours out of this recording that I still relate to. |

Oops. How'd I miss your birthday?? Happy 53rd. Hope the east winds haven't blown you down to Meiners Oaks. Here's hoping that Anne and you have a great Christmas, and a bundle of fun on the cruise next month. _________________ - BlueRunner |

Hi Robben,
From one Saggitarian to another...
Thanks for inspiring me in 1976 when I first heard "Blue and Lonesome" and "Gibson Creek Shuffle" on KTCL and KFML in Denver/Boulder. Thanks for being so cool in 1978 at Tulagi. Thanks for continuing to be accessible to players who care about your craft. Thanks for your continual reminder to us about what really "matters" in terms of artistic expression, and the introspection and honesty, and nakedness and courage that is required to get to that level.
And thanks for the deference for what came before, and for the promise and prospect for whatever lies ahead. I can hardly wait.
Happy Birthday,
Mike |
