I'd like a couple of private lessons with Robben Ford.

How insanely cool would that be?

Insane is right. I think my head would explode. I'd have to videotape it in order to go back and remember all the things that fell out of him. But like the clinics, how inspiring. I'll send a letter to Santa for both of us. Smile

When I was at GIT in 1983 and 1984, I hit the gold mine! At the time, Robben came and did Friday labs for about 4 or 5 months of that year. What that involved was 4 guys in a room with Robben for an hour at a time. He'd talk a bit, play a bit and then we'd play together. I used to be first in line every Friday and then try to sneak back in later in the day for another session. During that time period, I probably did 14 to 16 of these sessions. I taped a number of these and loaned them to a friend in the mid-80s and he lost them (so much for friends).

These sessions were an absolute blast! There were some special times too. I remember one when Robben brought in the recently completed Yellowjackets record Mirage a Trois and we went over the tunes. Another time when he brought in a box of newly released Charles Ford Blues Band records. Then there was the time he came in and showed us a new Fender prototype guitar that we all played that became the Fender Robben Ford model. Occasionally, he's stick around in the afternoon and perform with a student or instructor in a performance room. I remember a couple of times when he played with Frank Gamble (who was a student at the time). The most fun was playing with Robben, which I got to do about a dozen times. All this was included in the $3200 annual tuition for GIT. What a deal!!

I'd like Santa to Erase a lot of morons from planet earth (obviously me being not part of these), i'd like santa to stop wars and bring back all this G.Iyoungsters home (there is a lot of other ways to learn about foreign cultures). I'd like watching some présidents & politicals on trial at the TV.
I'd like the whole earth with a decent way of life (including non polluting energy sources).
Then i'd like Santa makes Robben appears as instructor in 1989/90 when i was in GIT ( But Keith Wyatt & Pedro Wyantt are great bluesmen too).

And on top i would like santa to commit a suicide, yes like burning himself ,
to show us how stupid spoiled and selfish we are, just before he would have shot his cattle .............................. Laughing

Like Aeolian said, you'd sure have to go back to the well a lot to digest it all. I've got the Blues and Beyond DVD, which is likely as close to a clinic as I'm gonna get, and it is like a bottomless pit of harmonic ideas. How he makes it seem so effortless is beyond me.
