Aaaaarrrrgh!!!

Sold Out!

If your planning on going to any of these shows, act quickly. Tickets for the Seneca Niagara Casino show (1/28/05) went on sale today... and before I had the chance to call in my order, they're sold out. Needless to say, I'm bummed.

Fearing this same fate, and since the Mohegan Sun (Uncasville, CT) show wasn't even showing up in Ticketmaster, I called them (Mohegan) to find out what's up. It turns out that where GA&F are playing, in the Wolf's Den, really is always free admission as advertised on their website, hence no ticket sales. Showtime isn't available yet, but shows there usually start at either 7 or 8pm, and they start letting people in 1 hour before. Seating is general, but ushers guide you to a seat in an ordered way, sort of like how a stadium parking lot gets filled row by row. I'm told that if you don't particularily care for where you're seated, they will allow you to move elsewhere. It holds about 300, and it's a mix of table seating and seats only. It's circular with the stage at one end. Supposedly, there's no bad seat. Now, this is the part that gets me- the Wolf's Den is located in one of the main gaming floors called the Casino of the Earth, and the only thing that separates the Den from the gaming tables and machines is a 4-foot wall. The guy I spoke to said not to worry if I don't get into the Den because I'd be able to see and hear just fine on the other side of the "wall"! Apparently, this Wolf's Den attracts some big names too. The guy mentioned that Tim McGraw (C&W star?) plays there fairly often, and people have been known to line up for one of his shows as early as 4am (yes, a.m., as in the wee hours of the morning!). The Derek Trucks Bands played there just last week too.

So, there's the scoop on the Mohegan Sun show. As much as I don't care for the idea of waiting in line for hours just to get in, I'm still going. But, the question remains- how early do you have to get there to ensure a seat in the Wolf's Den? Surprised

I've had several experiences there, most of them bad. I saw Susan Tedeschi there, and had to watch from 4 rows back behind the 4 foot wall, between the slot machines. But it was still worth it. She was great.

I went to see the Blues Brothers there 2 years ago, I was so far away that I wouldn't have been able to tell if it was my mother on stage.

I can't remember the guys name, but he used to play a native American on Lorenzo Lamas' show Renegade, played there. I was able to get a seat for that one.

Regardless, I'm still gonna give it a shot. Good luck to all.

Hey Rockman, what time do you plan on getting there? Would you be with someone?

I have a feeling that I'll probably be going it alone since my wife isn't at all thrilled at getting there early to wait in line for what could be several hours. Maybe we can hook up, and take turns waiting in line, or just wait and have someone to wait with... Smile Actually, she may be willing to go knowing that we wouldn't have to stand in line the whole time as we share holding a spot (the Casino guy I spoke with said holding places in line is allowed up to 3 people, in other words, 1 person holding for up to 3 people "exploring"). Let me know what you plan on doing.

And, if anyone else out there in forumland would like to meet up and share line duties, send me a private message.

Oh, and fyi, I'm willing to get there really, really early cause I'm a very patient person who wants to get in and watch the potentially best show of the year... Very Happy Cool Shocked Razz Laughing Surprised Twisted Evil Exclamation

Ever since the Casino Guy On The Phone told me about this "wall" and the openness of the Wolf's Den to the rest of this "main gaming floor", I've been wondering about the noise generated by the machines and the gamblers there for the thrill of losing their money who could give a shlot about the musical performance. And, does this noise ever interfere with or distract the performers?

Quite frankly, this whole setup sounds bad to me, but I've never been there, so I really don't know, And, apparently, performers do come back, so either the pay is that good to offset the noise, or the pay is really good and the noise isn't as bad as I imagine it.... Very Happy

That is great news Dave. Interesting news. This will be a change for Robben touring with the Allmans. Should be quite a matchup. I just hope they plan a venue somewhere in the South aka New Orleans...

February 8th, Mardi Gra, House Of Blues, New Orleans.... Wink

Well, the 1st show of this tour is only hours away! Very Happy

And, for tomorrow's show in Connecticut, a huge snow storm is predicted. But, I don't care- I'm there! If anybody from in here goes, I'll be standing in line, probably by myself, 6'2", short gray-brown beard, brown Kangol hat. Stop on by!

Ok, I just finished my weekly food shopping- you'd think there is a major blizzard on the way seeing the hourdes of people stockpiling their carts! Laughing

And, now, after a phone call to Mohegan Sun, I'll be starting my 2+-hour journey over there. According to the nice person I spoke to, Gregg Allman & Friends are already there, so the show will go on even with the blizzard they're expecting, and which has already started down there. These types of storms start in southern New England and work their way north-east (which is why they're called nor'easters). Anyway, nothing yet up here, but I'm sure to hit it soon into my drive. And, coming home after the show will be a blast! Shocked

I'm "betting" on a great show!

Later,
~JZ~

Cool Whoo-eee. Don't know if I really envy those of you who at this very moment (6:00 p.m. EST) are probably standing in line outside the Casino stamping your feet and trying to keep from freezing to death. 'Cept I'd trade places in a minute if you'd like to come out here and do all the furniture moving I've been doing all day preparing for a painter to come in and do our house. Hope that despite the nonreserved seating, the four-foot wall, the noisy slot machines, and all of that, the show is a gas. Anyone at last night's show in Jim Thorpe?

And safe travel to all of you heading back and forth to the shows.
