I heard a live version of Miles song " Splatch" on my car radio the other day. I recognized the song from the CD "Tutu". This was an extended live version of this song that really cooks. I don't know for sure but the guitar work has to be Robben Ford. I know he played with Miles around this time. The song is very heavy on electronic keyboards and the guitar solo comes after a wild keyboard solo. Could someone tell me if this is Robben on guitar ?

Other questions?

Who are the other musicians performing here ?

How do I find this and purchase it? I must own this. It's the most smokin' thing I've heard in a long time.

Check out this:

It could be that you need CD 11 of Miles's Live at Montreux 20 CD box set!

Marin,

Thanks for the info, I think you are right about the 20 cd set. I'll have to raid my piggy bank to swing that, however, I 'm sure it will be a most worthwhile purchase. Thanks for the link to all the great info.

Hi. New here, checking the DBoard since month. Had to sign in while this topic started!

Nice to hear that you've been introduced to this awesome music. The song is from the Montreux Jazz Festival 1986.
Band: Miles Davis (tpt, org); Bob Berg (ss, ts); David Sanborn (as); Robben Ford (g); Robert Irving III (synth); Adam Holzman (synth); George Duke (synth); Felton Crews (el-b); Vincent Wilburn, Jr. (d); Steve Thornton (perc).
I never took notice of a trumpet player in music until i read about RFord's Bio. Well, I had to figure out what Robben has done in the past especially with Miles. The first Song I heard was "Jean-Pierre", the last song of the set. I was and I'm still blow away from Robben's Solo in this song. It's minutes long!!! Man, you got to listen!!!
Please, try to catch a copy of this show 16.July1986. It's all Robben Live and Kickin'!!!!
Greetings from Germany
M

Is this performance available on DVD? I've seen a video clip of 'Speak' - fantastic, by the way- but would love to see the whole concert.
