|
|
Hi all,
I'm a beginner; learning Robben's "Brother". Need a little advice... in the solo there's a pretty run from around the 12th to 13th bar; cannot determine what position solo is in when progression moves toward the C major chord. Any help appreciated.
Thanks. |

Here's a book published by Warner Bros. It's called Robben Ford Blues Guitar Collection. #WB.00690042 www.sheetmusic.com
The Brother is in E-flat I'm working on that also I've got a lot figured out so far. But I'll get back to you on those bars...12-13?

Hi,
First, the brother is in Eb cause he tunes down a 1/2 step a la Stevie. After you do that you play as if you were in E.
Just glancing at the book above mentioned, the run you're asking about occurs at the 12th fret. Bar 12 leading to the C7 is basically a E minor penta lick and when he gets to bar 13(C7) maybe it's more of an Am thing cause he adds a few c's on the 13th fret of the 2nd string.
Have fun and good luck,

I'm learning it in Eb (std. tuning). I didn't know if he tuned down or not but I'm glad I'm learning it in standard tuning....keeps me on my toes!

I bought the above-mentioned book (thanks again for the referral); the tune is transcribed in the key of E minor. The riff is indeed around the 12th fret; it is based on a C arpeggio. Bought a couple of Robben's videos, these are highly recommended, they answer a lot of questions and are very helpful.
Thanks again,
William |
