Dave,
Did Noel call Robben from the other side? With all due repsect, Noel is dead. Perhaps you're speaking of Mitch Mitchel?
Looking forward to seeing you, and Robben Wednesday night at BB kings.

Yup, he certainly did. And because he called collect, Robben's entire paycheck for this tour has been pretty much wiped out by the long distance charges!!!
Doh! Silly me! Right you are.
I did mean Mitch. I was just the other day showing Robben some photos of a Santana gig I did a few years back with Noel sitting in and his name musta stuck in my brain. Sorry for the confusion (Especially dumb since, as I was writing that, I thought about how much I always liked Reddings band Fat Mattress and what a pity it is that there will never be any more original material from Noel). Thanx for correcting my foolishness, Rod. See you in N.Y. _________________ B C-ing U!

A friend of mine, Paul Wright in the UK, just sent me this picture of Robben with Noel. Thought some might like to see it.

Are the other 2 guys, Jerry Donahue & Matthias Jabs (Scorpions)? It looks like some kind of Fender event. Do you have any idea why they were getting together? |

This picure was taken during a Fender Custom Shop event at the Frankfurter Messe in 1997. The Frankfurter Messe is like the European NAMM. _________________ "Don't play what's there, play what's not there" Miles Davis |

This was a great tune (in Sat. night's show)! And, it was the only time Robben was even close to a mike as he echoed Floyd belting out, "Back to Daytona!"
Actually, I thought (assumed) Back To Daytona was a BB King tune. BB did this tune in his show when I saw him last month...

Johnny,
Perhaps I did the assuming. I know Floyd has an album with that song being the title track. Whoever wrote it, it's a great song and I can't wait to hear it next Tues night.
Thanks for your great review of the show up at Foxwoods. You showed a lot of guts driving there and back in that storm. We got 20" here and I'm still sore from shoveling. My brother lives down on the Cape just got un buried late yesterday.
Thanks again and I'll be sharing my GA and Friends experience next week. |

According to Allmusic.com it's a Floyd Miles tune off a '94 album of the same name. Co-written with a guy called Bob 'Rattlesnake' Greenlee. Also according to Allmusic, Floyd Miles was a mainstay of the Florida scene who initially took Gregg & Duane under his wing but wound up fading from view until the '90s. It's a real shame that it looks like there'll be no Instant Lives or equivalent from this tour. |
