Johnny, hope you made it home OK. It is NASTY outside with a capitol "snow cones , anyone?"!!!!!
After show, by the end of load out, our tour manager passed the word.... Sayersville is cancelled, we'll stay here in the casino till Monday and see if we can get to NYC at that time.
BTW, nice meeting you, hope you enjoyed the show & if you decided to stick around & not chance travelling in the blizzard outside, maybe we'll see ya around the casino somewhere.
If you did drive... then my wishes for a safe & successful trip home!

Daved,

Any chance any of the shows will be recorded for "Instant Live" and possibily be available to purchase beyond the day of the show.

I'm sure more then a few of us would like to pick up a copy of a show from this tour.

Thx

I've been eagerly and patiently waiting for a Gregg Allman (and Friends) Band tour, and to have Robben Ford in the band is just immense news. Looks like I'll be needing new tires sooner than expected!

Sorry but, at this point anyway, I don't know of anything like that happening.

JohnnyZ is alive and well!

Sorry for taking so long- pretty much spent all afternoon outside yesterday shovelling out both of my vehicles and helping out a few of the older folks in my condo community. By the time I was done, I only had enough left in me to just sink into my livingroom sofa and snooze the night away. I even took today off from work just to relax, and to relive Saturday night... Very Happy

The best way I can describe this version of Gregg Allman & Friends is, if you've ever heard GAF live, or if you've only heard Gregg's solo albums, the many lead guitarists always had that Allman Brothers Band guitar sound, only this time, Robben's distinctive flair was very evident. Even when Robben played the familiar melodies of Gregg's songs, if you closed your eyes, you knew it was Robben. And then, when he went off on a solo of his own, which it seemed like he had the freedom to do on many songs, Robben did his thing, which to me means- puts a huge smile on my face. Very Happy And, not only was I smiling, but Gregg, who's usually very stoic in his performances, managed to break out a few smiles, as did the band members, and certainly the audience. Speaking of the audience, from the many people I talked to while in line and inside the venue, I would say only 1 of 10 knew who Robben was, and I continually reassured everyone that after tonight, they would not only know who he is, but probably would want to know and hear more of him. I also had to chuckle when I overheard some guy say that he'd better be as good as Gregg's past guitarists (have another beer, buddy, and enjoy the show Laughing ). Bottomline- Robben did not disappoint, and he most certainly gained a whole new bunch of fans... Cool

Gregg was awesome as usual. His voice was strong, and I was particularily impressed with his guitar playing, which he did quite a bit of, side-by-side with Robben (that was a site of its own!). Floyd Miles sang a few tunes reminicent of BB King. Everyone else- bass player, drummer, keyboardist, and 3-piece horn section, all played their butts off... Cool

I had the opportunity to meet with Robben after the show as he ventured off on his own into that massive maze of casino games, shops, eateries, and bars. He was kind enough to share some small talk, take a picture with me, and autograph an official set list that Daved gave me. I also found Robben about 15 minutes later as I was making my way out to my car, sitting alone at a quiet secluded bar having a much-deserved glass of wine. I just had to stop and chat a bit more. I mentioned to Robben how well they played together given their short time before the show, and how they all seemed to really have fun out there (Robben couldn't stop smiling during the whole show). He said he truly did have a lot of fun. And, not wanting to take away from his quiet time any further, I said my goodbye and left. Robben's last words to me was, "See ya on the 5th!" (He remembered that I had told him earlier that I'll be attending his 3/5 clinic). That was the cherry on the whipped cream on the chocolate hot fudge sundae that was that whole evening... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Daved, it was a pleasure meeting you. Thanks for taking a few moments from your hectic "load out" to say hello, find me a set list, and give me a couple of Robben's picks. Much appreciated! See you again in Chicago. Very Happy

And, now for the set list (exactly as it appears, including key):

Am WHIPPING POST
G DEMONS
Gm HOUSE OF BLUES
Bb OCEANS
C SAMSON
A POISON
C SLIP AWAY
A MULTI COLOR
E FACES WITHOUT
C I'VE BEEN HURT
C BULLETS
C QUEEN OF HEARTS
G BACK TO DAYTONA
E MELISSA
D MIDNIGHT RIDER
B I'M NO ANGEL

E SWEET FEELING
D STATESBORO

Look for pictures soon in the on-line photos forum...

Again, thanks for everyone's concerns. This was one of the largest blizzards ever in this area. And, I'd do it all over again! Very Happy

To my recollection- no, he didn't. He might've done some finger slides, but I'm pretty sure, he didn't use an actual slide.

Of course, someone will now come back and say that he did, and exactly when... Laughing

Funny you said "jackpot", with the show being in this humungous casino. Although I don't gamble, I just had to throw away a whole fifty cents in a quarter slot machine... Laughing

But, yes- the show was the jackpot of shows. Everyone was a winner! Very Happy

JZ
Thanks for the great review and glad to hear you made it home relatively all right. What were the song highlights for you? They were obviously pretty confident opening with Whipping Post.
Cheers
