In '69 I was visiting my future wife (who lived there at the time, tho I lived up in Stockton) and I went to the Mosrite factory which was in a small basement just a few blocks from her house. That was a very fun and impressive thing for me.... especially considering what my career would turn out to be decades later.

Yup, I remember the Mosrite days in Bakersfield. Just about everyone in town from the rock to the country players were using Mosrite guitars. Never saw too many of the amps around. I went to school with Mark Mosley, Semie's son at BHS.

Owned two mosrites over the years, a Ventures Bass and Ventures 12 string electric. Wish I still had them.....

This is a REAL amp!

That was the first amp I ever owned! I had a Les Paul Deluxe Gold-top and a Custom! That amp sounded pretty good for a solid-state....

Ahhhh the days in my basement rattling the pictures off the walls - mom, dad and all siblings had to evacuate the house during band rehearsal. It's amazing any of us still have and hearing left at all...

Those were the days!

Hmmm, with a starting bid of $1995.00 it might just be a little too high priced for even a KUSTOM.... Now if that was a JORDAN......... Very Happy

Paul Revere rides again.......

Remember the 60's Paul Revere and the Raiders show. They would give away $1200 in VOX equipment to the winning band in their battle of the bands segment. As I remember that would just about buy one Super Beatle.

For Daved, when I was growing up in Bakersfield their used to be a Vox GUitar Center on Chester Ave, I used to ride my bike down their and drool all over the amps and guitars!

I'm the proud owner of a 1963 VOX AC50 top. I bought it from a retired repair-guy. The original Mullard and Philips tubes are still in it! It sounds like a dream..................

Visiting with Alexander Dumble one day, he showed me the complete (chrome stand and all), and still working, Vox Super Beatle that he owns stuffed away in a back room. It would sure be a nice compliment to my recently purchased Rickenbacker 12 string. I tried to negotiate with him, but he won't part with it. Laughing

I can imagine that, Daved. All this JMI VOX stuff is very rare. I gave up searching for an original VOX cabinet maching my AC50. You seldom find one and if there is one around, they cost biiig money! These chrome stands, by the way, are even rarer even here in Europe. The amp you saw is a 100W special. Must be early '60 just like my amp. Amazing stuff!!!

Daved was that a JMI AC100 or was it the "evil Thomas" Super Beatle?

Hey Gary, I grew up in Taft, Ca. 36 mi. s/w of Bak. Did you ever make it over there to the oilwell cellar of the universe? I remember Gutchers music on Chester ave. I don't know if that was the same store after Vox or not. That was in the early 70s.Iremember Crabby Appleton playing at my high school auditorium once. I think I was in 7th grade1970 or so.
