Question Hi-

Any Robben Ford 'gurus' who happen to know if Robben played on a CD called 'Truth to the Rumor" by Stephen Sea around 1989ish? I'm trying to figure out if the above CD is real or a hoax. Any help would be appreciated. (If true, Robben might have played on a cover of a Santana song on the Stephen Sea CD) Thanks from Nebraska!

shermar,

It seems this album is for real!

I cannot find any clue that Robben is performing on this album. It seems that Stephan Sea did some Oberheim synthesiser programming for Robben but I cannot find on which album.

Thanks Lefty. Any other info you find out would be cool. The seller of the CD is saying that 'Stephen Sea' is really Steve Perry (from Journey) using the 'ghost name'. I'm trying to validate if possible. Somewhere I have a Perry interview where he talks about working with Robben Ford on a project with no specifics. Thanks again. Sher

It might raise more questions than answers...that's a good thing.
Quote:
Stephen Sea is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards) whose gritty jazz-rock jumps with bluesy grit and hot licks. For Truth to the Rumer (Inertia CD30001), Sea is backed by bassist Fourvo "Ice" Mauduel, drummer Lefty DiMitriX and keyboardist Obie Xavior. There's a palpable group-feel here as if, in contrast to most of today's studio sessions (regardless of genre), these guys really play together on a regular basis. It struts with an urban, "mean streets" toughness that's downright electric. Yeah!
