Thanks for pointing that out, Big Foot. I was at that show, actually, so it brought back some memories. I guess it was broadcast on Japanes satellite sometime after the fact. I should check if one of my friends doesn't have a copy of the whole show. Unfortunately, that festival has become the Rock In Japan festival, but it was good for the couple of years it went. Cassandra Wilson was the headliner in '99. I remember being very disappointed that Robben didn't take part in the all star jam at the end.

The second clip is Lovin' cup. But as alway supernatural. As far as I know they only broadcasted these 2 songs on TV.

They were both great clips. Hilary's drumming was wonderful. The other video on the site with Hil's solo was great, too.

OMG, I feel so much better now. Man, can Hil drive that train. I could feel the energy though my puny laptop. Robben looks like he's having a ball. Jimmy Earl on bass and David Mathews having a blast. What a band! You can see where Robben is inspired. More live Robben please!

Love that footage. When is that DVD from Sierra Nevada due out anyway???

BTW, earlier this month I bought a VHS tape (Sony Productions) of the 1983 San Francisco Blues Festival, mostly for the footage of the Charles Ford Band. Although it was very cool to see the Ford Bros. at a relatively early stage, it could have been much better. They did 2 tunes, including 40 Days/40 Nights. Right when Robben is ready for his solo, they break away for a taped interview with the brothers. Oye! Also, Patrick indicated that Robbens amp mic was not working, so what we do get to hear is not quite all there.
But as I said, was cool to see them circa '83. I looked for Elizabeth and Aeolian in the crowd, but didn't see them. I'll bet a beer that at least one of them was there!

Uhhhhh, let's see...that was the year before my daughter was born. Yup, I think I was there. Was that the year with Willie Dixon, Albert King, and the Honey Drippers?

I missed 1984 and 1985... Embarassed

You know, I don't remember seeing Robben that year...I thought he had been there the year before (1982) with Albert Collins and Robert Cray. Oh well, they say the memory goes...
