Do you think the hacker was a disgruntled mac user who couldn't get the mp3s of Robben with Greg Allman to download and had his requests for help with this issue ignored? |

Jon1, I am a Mac user, and I had no problem downloading all MP3s. I had them playing on my computer, in my car, and even in my classroom almost as soon as they were posted. I cannot imagine why someone would think that platform would matter, since MP3 is not platform specific.

It's not necessarily the format of the files that you try to download, but platform, and more specifically, the browser software on that platform that can cause problems with accessing certain servers etc. We have this problem with our FTP system at work - it works fine with IE on the PC but not the Mac where users and having to download a freeware browser to access the files. I'm using Safari on OSX 10.3.4 and it comes up with the same error message that the other mac users have reported on the downloads thread. Are you using a different OS or browser? |

I'm on a mac, networked, running OS 10.3.5 and I had no problem downloading through either IE or Safari. I use them interchangably. Although I will say this, Firefox is the way to go on a mac. IMHO. |

Jon1, I use 10.3.8 and Safari, and I have had no problems at all. Since I moved up to this OS, I have never used IE again. (I was never a big fan of it anyway.)
Strange, how systems work differently in different venues; at school we are still stuck with PCs (not for long!) and we have to use Netscape to access our attendance and grading program. I have never understood THAT one. I always thought that was more of a server issue, but what do I know? _________________ www.elizabethgage.com |
