Have you gone throught it? What do you think of it?

I just got my copy yesterday afternoon. I've read through all the examples while listening to the CD (each example is used in context with Carl's band backing him (Cliff Hugo, bass and Bernie Dresel, drums) ). The CD is simply killer and key to the book since some of the examples out of context sound odd at first. Carl's certainly not the first or only great guitarist to make interesting use of an intervallic approach but I think it can safely be said no one in the rock/blues idiom has taken it quite as far and so thoroughly integrated it into their playing. This is a great book/CD combo as both an introduction to Carl's approach and for helping you "get your head around" the ideas and sound. My favorite quote from the text is, "When music reaches for perfection its beauty is found in the striving."

I've been steering in the direction of not relying on scales anyway (more of the Jimmy Bruno philosophy - "melody, melody, melody") . . . so I think I'll check this book out.
