Which begs the gearhead question, what is the OD pedal du jour?

Those little boxes are a pain aren't they? Once you've been spoiled by a great tube amp, you're kind of stuck. I love my Fuchs/Tonker rig but every so often I find myself with my Deluxe or plugging into some guys Super, and having some little box to get me back close to that OD tone would be so nice. Nowdays there's so many choices that it's overwhelming for someone who makes their living at it. Just imagine what it's like for a part timer who's more interested in playing than spending a fortune collecting gadgets. I'm sure there's something more like my ODS than the Centaur that's been in my gig bag the last several years, but I don't have the time or finances to search it out. What I've heard of the Zendrive sounds promissing but it seems like pedals are a flavor of the month thing. So when someone like Robben has a backline gig and goes on a pedal search, it's worth paying attention and narrowing the field. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Most likely it WILL be the Zendrive, though I'll probably bring something else too, like a Fireball, as backup. _________________ B C-ing U!

Aeole , it seems you have a strong GAS . Mine is only in incubation since i don't have the cash yet.
When i feel a crisis is coming i close my eyes strongly & weep & moan for all the stuff i gave, lost, sold, being robbed : like :
a 1966 P.Bass with all original stuff (robbed),
a small Hiwatt Head with a boost switch in the back (traded for a little amp i
brang in Africa & sold)
Some Tone Bender Fuzz and Wha i didn't like and gave away
A 1972 SG Custom with bigsby (sold)
An old Marschall cabinet (give away)
And a lot more .............. _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=147748
To answer Nicou's original ? I just saw Roscoe Beck & Friends last night. Played at Central Market,a grocery here in town that has outdoor tables and a nice stage. They were previewing alot of the new cd coming out. Didn't know what to expect but the music was real bluesy with some soul thrown in.Personel included Mike Cross, vocals; Riley Osborne, keys; David Murray, guitar;Brannen Temple, drums;and of course Roscoe Beck on bass. The band was really laying it down. What a rhythm section! Just when you thought you'd heard one too many versions of 'Cissy Strut' . And some definite hints of Robben in David 's playing.
Well, that's the report from down here,

When not using the Dumble rig, Robben usually likes whatever amp he is using (preferably a Fender of some sort) set to a clean sound. Then he likes to have the ability to "Boost" and "Overdrive" that sound. So the pedals he leans toward have both those capabilities.
Onstage, Robben tends to play his guitar wide open, with all pots fully clockwise, while working with bare fingers, pick postion, pickup selection, Ernie Ball volume pedal, Dunlop wah pedal, and overdrive/boost pedal.
As for the Fireball, yes, we are back to the original factory-shipped settings. _________________ B C-ing U!
