|
|
Was just browsing amazon.com and saw under the Robben Ford dvd's that a new one, titled "Robben Ford New Morning: Paris Concert" will be available on May 10th. Cost- $14.96. No other details. Oh, and the cover photo shows Robben playing a red Fender, I believe (am I right?). Any guesses when the show actually took place?

That show took place on May 4th 2001. Jimmy Earl on bass, Brannen Temple on drums and Jeff Babco (?) on keys. It was braodcasted on TV several times as a 55 minutes show. I hope the complete show will be on that DVD.

Hi J the Z, New Morning is the "main" Jazz club in Paris (France), not too far from this there is a lot of indian Restaurants , so you can have an exotic dinner after an explosive concert.
But like everything in this country sounds weird, here we go : they just plug the air con when there is too much smoke inside, the sittings are just plain "pain in the ass" and the expensive beer feels like a donkey pee.... and sometimes the sound crew don't handle the situation quite professionaly..........
This being said they still are the main venue .
NOW like i said, stressed and stated in previous threads : we reckless frenchies can't do something like this on our lcal EBay because we have LAWS. I mean you'll never find a TV concert ripped in DVD for sale .
So be aware that this one is a bootleg . I am sure it's not officially approved by Robben. One thing is to have a TV and tape Music for friends or personnal use one other thing is to sell it..........
That is why i am never OK with Daved when we speak about TAPING.
Ah the f....g taping policy . _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=147748 |

Hallo Bluelobster,
I think also it's a bootleg where Robben has not given clearens for.
A little time ago, there was spoken about a new DVD- release from Robben Ford where Robben will be doing a gig, somewhere in Europe, and that will be released later this year, wasn't it ?
So, how come that this DVD is coming out now ???
But....I will buy this when ready, haha !!!! Bootlegs or not.... It's Robben Ford that keeps me busy !
Greetings from your neigbour,

It is from 2001 as described on the Uncle's link. I was there and the guitar sound was breathtaking but on the TV show it got lost, still it's a great video, only drawback is Brennan Temple who doesn't quite fit into the music. |

Yeah Blob, you had a camerashot during 1,15 seconds during that 55 minutes TV braodcasting. Recorded for eternity on this DVD with the complete show 114 minutes including a 22 minutes interview. I made a mistake with the keyboard player. That was not Jeff Babco but Louis Pardine. I doubt if this is a bootleg, beacuse it's from the same label In Akustik as Ohne Filter 1993 (yes the year of theat red jecaket).

http://www.in-akustik.com/tt/default.asp has some more information in German. Perhaps Edmund want to translate it in English or even in Dutch Hopefully the sound is in Stereosound in Dolby Digital 5.1 much better then the sound of the broadcasted version. Anyway, it's great there's another release of a great show with Robben.

Who told you we in Austria talk German??? I have difficulties to understand that too BUT it is an official release and finally there is the first half an hour of the show on it that we all who were there missed so much on the TV broadcast. Already ordered my copy.
After reading again:
As far as I understand German they say that Robben is the best of the best who ever lived and ever will, everybody loves him and if you don't buy this incredibly wonderful footage in Dolbywhatever you are at least an ignorant blockhead.
Edmund

Just came across this site with what looks like an interesting dvd featuring Robben and many other guitarists called "Guitar Heroes". http://www.apthosting.com/Lessons/Details.php?item=99999940
Anyone have or seen this already? _________________ Soul on Eleven |

It seems to me that this is a compilation of some great Ohne Filter shows. Of course I'v seen the 3 Ohne Filter shows Robben did in 1988, 1993 and 1997. The 1993 one is already released on DVD. I wonder if there's something on this DVD from 1988 and 1997. I do have some of the artists on the official released DVD (Duke Robillard, Popa Chubby). On Monday april 25th I hope to recieve the Paris 2001 DVD. It looks like al the good DVD stuff is recorded in Europe. So, regarding the topic of Daved, I hope there will be a DVD-recording in Yoshi's in july this year.
