Blobby, you're such a stirrer!
Rainmkr, did you go to one of the BP shows last weekend? What's the proof? Or have you just had a few before sitting in front of your computer? (I'm not one to talk BTW!)
Cheers

Yes I did have a few before posting last night, but....
Landau and Scott Kinsey, Friday the 13th, at the Baked Potato. I brought in a small video camera and got 7 min of visual. when they asked me to put it away I just set it on the seat next to me. I digitally recorded the hole first set.
He is the best, in my opinion.

And if Landau is God , why God doesn't ship CD's to his fans in time even if they've paid for it in advance ? |
I've now become one of the many individiuals that's ordered Landau CD's from his site and never recieved them. I don't care how good Landau is as a player. The way he treats his 'fans' is dispicable and I for one will never go and see him or attempt ot buy anything from him ever again.
At least 'GOD' has morals and does not condone ripping off his followers !!! |

Sorry Woody about that . Go on the gear page , there is news.
A guy went see Landau after a gig in L.A & complained : it seems to really stress him , he said his site was hacked and he lost a ton of informations.

Thanks for the info Bluelobster.
Read the thread, but in truth don't feel any less 'Ripped off'.........He could do more to convey his fustration and future sales assurances via his website (if he truly feels this way) as other artists or companies do when experiencing these problems..............
No need for your appologies, certainly not your fault!! |

I would send a letter to "Unconscious Records", the PO box is on his sight. Tell them what is up, and try and send a copy of your "Pay pal" receipt. I bet they will get you your disk If you explain things in a letter.
Landau has come to far to get off on ripping off his fans. Every time I have talked with him he seems like a very warm and gracious dude.
Try the letter and see what happens.

OK I'll try that approach rainmkr63. Others appear to have done the same thing with little result, but I'll give it a go and see if I have any luck. If he is as you say he is - 'very warm and gracious' then it would be a damn shame to ignore his music as a result of some hacker.
Cheers

A buddy went to see Mike in LA a couple of months ago and mentioned to him that he had been waiting awhile for the live CD. Mike reached back behind his amp, pulled a copy out of a bag and handed it over, no questions asked.
We admire the man for the musician he is, not for being a master businessman/marketer/webmaster/whatever bit of socially correct expectations one wishes to foist onto an artist. _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Did anyone go to the Saturday show? I would like to hear about that one. Kinsey seemed a little unfamiliar with the changes, he had the charts near by all night. He was still great, but subdued, did he let loose more on Saturday?
Scott Kinsey has been doing his own thing, and doing some shows with Scott Henderson. Why did he do this ML gig, he is one of the reasons I went all that way to see one of the nights.
This was the 3rd time I have seen Landau, and would go out of my way to see him again. I have listened to my cheesy boot about 14 times since Friday, I get a little liquored up at these shows so I can really analyze it with this recording. I will only use this for my own enjoyment, this will never get out!!
I asked Mike at the end of the show, "when are you going to release the Live stuff in 2004", I had heard a roomer about this. He said that he is trying to decide if it should be 1 disk or 2?? All I was thinking was how about 4 disks, that would work for me.
Mike, we need more of your live stuff! PLEASE!!!

I appreciate your comments Steve.
However, I have to take issue with 'We admire the man for the musician he is and not for being a master businessman'. Mike's a great player with an impressive catalogue, and I have tremendous respect for him as an artist. However when Mike commissions someone, or sets his own website up to generate income from merchandise or albums under his name, then like it or not he has a legal/moral responsibility to provide the goods or service that someone purchases. I can take the hit, but what about the poor kid who idolises Mike and saves his hard earned pocket money to purchase the albums via his site only to have them never arrive??
I don't care if he's the greatest player on the planet it does not give excuse for taking someone’s money without providing the goods/service. If Mike does a session he expects to be paid and rightfully so. If a studio refused to pay for a cut, would Mike take the attitude 'Oh well their a great studio with a Killer engineer who I greatly respect I'll let the it go' I'm pretty sure he would be incensed and rightly so.
In order to succeed in this industry you have to be not only a good player but a good businessman. I would be extremely surprised if Mike was not both given his success.
Mike may be a great chap - he may indeed be upset regarding this situation, but unless he responds to peoples mails or indicates this via his website how on earth are his fans/customers expected to feel? If there were one or two isolated incidents then that's one thing, but it clear that this has been a problem for a lot of people. It's great that you’re pal can go to a show, talk to Mike and get some resolution. But what can we do here in the UK?
My intent is not to bash Mike Landau especially in 'Robbens house' (which seems to be totaly the wrong place for this topic). I just want to enjoy the guy’s music, and receive the two CD’s I paid for. Is that really that unreasonable?
Anyway that's enough of me ranting. I appreciate the suggestions so far and will be the first to come back here with my tail between my legs if the CD's turn up and any of your suggestions work.
Cheers
