Don't know if you guys have been following the Podcasting thing. It's part of a larger Person Content Creation trend that I believe is going to ultimately change the balance of power in media world - music, print, video, radio, etc.....
Podcasting is about anyone being able to produce and distribute an audio show/ radio show. There are thousands of these shows available for free on the net today on an amazing variety of subjects.
So here's the deal, the Podcasters can not legally use any RIAA music unless each Podcaster buys a BMI and/or an ASCAP license. Obviously the Podcasters can't afford this.
Enter the concept of Pod Safe Music. It's music under the Creative Commons license that can be legally used in Podcasts.
