PS Not to be misleading; the guitar on auction is a FENDER |

Nice, but, Robben should knock off a few hundred for all the dings and scratches... _________________ Soul on Eleven |

Well, if Anne doesn't know whether the guitar is Robbens or not....
Amazing guitar. One day, when my finances are right, I'll have to snatch one of Robben's guitars!
In the meantime, I'll enjoy my new purchase (see "Open Discussions").

The description of the guitar on ebay is accurate. Gene Baker is handling the auction on Robben's behalf. |

There are some pictures of mine on my website, but I could take more if anyone is interested in seeing it. It's not for sale by the way.

Gene's commentary on the eBay listing is well worth the visit ('tho it does appear that he spent more of his school time in woodworking class than in English class). I don't believe for a minute, though, the story about Robben tapping time on the upper bought with a ring on his right hand. From the photos, a ball pein hammer seems more likely.
And many thanks to Daved for posting Robben's letter about this guitar (and about the one for which Bill Morgan is the current "guardian").
I suppose I could bid a few K on this guitar, but in my hands it would end up sounding like ... well ... me. My chops are already an insult to my trusty BlueRunner (Carvin) and Monday's Child (Strat'). I'd hate to insult a guitar Robben once owned. Here's hoping it goes to someone who will take very good care of it, but won't just leave it locked up in a humidified safe somewhere.
And as for whether or not Anne is trying to get Robben to essentially "clean out the garage" by selling an axe, I'm not going there. _________________ - BlueRunner |

Actually, I Do! And I'll tell you why... because it finally answers for me a mystery that has bugged me for a looooong time.
Almost everyone of Robben's new aquisitions starts developing those craters and, although I've gone thru a variety of theories why this happens (insuficiently filled wood pores under still curing, fresh finishes... strap damage in guitar cases... my own clumsiness in handling [No WAY!!!]... etc.), but always something shoots down every imagining I come up with.
This explanation by Gene seems to me to be TOTALLY rational and consistant with the way Robben handles and plays his guitars. I like it! (Not to mention it takes the burdon off ME for my own treatments of his axes. ) _________________ B C-ing U!

I'd want to see the ring before coming to any conclusions. I suppose a devious woodpecker is out of the question. |

Me too, actually!
I suppose this theory will go right down the tubes along with the others if Robben wears no ring on his right hand and/or right 'pinky' finger.
I'll see him again in about 10 days (if not sooner) for the colorado show. If Kirk is there maybe he, too, can asses the situation. _________________ B C-ing U!

I'm willing to bet the elizabeth has already noticed this ring and can fully describe it, or better yet, she probably even has a picture of it... _________________ Soul on Eleven |
