i don't know if this is helpful, but i play a lot with a fantatsic session musician/pianist and studio owner Giovanna Imbesi. She is well known and plays around town quite a bit. i think she is amazing. Her website is tuttomedia.com.
In fact carl Burnett recorded at her studio with Robben!
I think the way you are supporting your kid is great! Music is not about competition or gender, it is about expression and honesty in the moment. With parents like you supporting her she is off to a great start!

I have been meaning to follow up on this thread but the end of semester, vacation, various illnesses, etc, all caught up with me and I am just now getting back into full discussion mode.
I just want to thank all you wonderful board members who passed along mojo and good wishes here. You people are the best out there in musical discussion board land.
