Personally, I prefer pointy shoes for any footswitch duties.

Bare feet are ok for Roland/Boss type switches but no good for those metal ones - it kinda hurts when the switch clicks on/off. Socks without shoes is also no good as they tend to slip around on the switch.

Pointy shoes give the best accuracy, especially when the switches are close together. Doesn't help for 'whole foot' duties (e.g. wah pedal) so you need to make sure the wah pedal and volume pedal are far enough apart (so you don't accidently turn your volume up/down while trying to use the wah).

JACK- Save your money. Look for the long discontinued Chandler Stereo Digital Echo. To my ears there's nothing better and I've tried them all. I had one of my Chandler's since 1991 and have relied on it extensively. Records extremely well. My advice is to look for the 1st version without the input volume adjustment unless you have an exceptionally hot effects send. The Chandler works well in front of the amp also and I've never said THAT about ANYTHING before!!

AEOLIAN- I should have known you were part of that C-J, ProAc, Wadia crowd!! Oh wait a minute. That's MY stereo! LOL Serious affliction. Works nicely with the guitar thing though....I run Kimber Silver Streak to my Reverb pan.

You are not going to believe this, but guess what's in my rack right next to my TC D-Two: a Chandler Stereo Digital Echo (the one you described without the input level control!). I bought the thing in 1993 and used it until I bought my D-Two a year and a half ago. I just put it back in my rack two weeks ago to use with a small PA I have. I know the thing sounds great and is very simple to use. I started using the D-Two when I wanted to upgrade my rig with higher end TC products ( I think I paid $250 for the Chandler).

I'm going to give the Chandler another try tomorrow and A-B it with my D-Two. This is probably a useful experiment before I pull the trigger on the TC 2290.

Well, I did the A-B comparison and guess what, the Chandler won. The Chandler sounded warmer and deeper than the TC D-Two. Also, the Chandler is a lot easier to adjust and play with real-time. I also compared the chorus sound in the Chandler with my TC SCF. The Chandler sounded better too.

The only disadvantage is that the Chandler has a little more noise than the D-Two (which is dead quiet).

I never did the comparision before. When I bought my D-Two, I just assumed it would sound better and I pulled the Chandler out of my rack and packed it away. Tonemaster, thanks a lot for the suggestion. I'm going to hold off on the TC 2290. I think you might just have saved me $1000 to $1500!

I am not surprised. The newer lower end TC digital stuff doesn't sound that great to me....some of those reverbs are realy bad.

The Chandler is a great delay....but the 2290 is even better!

My Chandler doesn't make any noise in front of the amp but I have had one or two effects loop mismatches. The thing to remember about that particular unit is that it is NOT a line level but an instrument level effect. (That troubled a few people and then they brought out that really expensive one with the input volume adjustment and the chicken head knobs.) It works really well for that reason in front of the amp or in a really early effects loop ala Boogie Mk I/II before guitar players had racks. I paid about $299 for the thing in 1991 and I see them now all the time going for $400. Yeeeow! I never use it for chorus. I have one of those Voodoo Labs pedals that I like alot.
Anyway even at today's prices you can pick up another Chandler for alot less than the 2290 and switch between a couple of settings and be COOLER since it's always cool to have two ofthe same thing in your rig !! LOL
