Well, I just got off the phone with Greg Allman's tour manager, negotiating & confirming my end of the deal, so I guess it is now official enough that I can tell you all that it looks like Robben will be touring in the Greg Allman Band in January and I've been hired to handle guitars.
I have very limited info at this point, but my understanding is that the band will also include Neil Larson (keys), Willy Weeks (bass), and Steve Potts (drums). At this point they're looking at a 4 week East coast, U.S. tour from mid January into February. _________________ B C-ing U!

Man, any chance Buzzy could hang for a show - preferably in the LA area. I know he was working with Allman recently. I've been hoping for a very long time to be able to see them together, although my head might explode if I did see it. I guess I'll bring God out of the box for this one. [Join me in a prayer: God, please bring Buzz and Robben together... please?]

That is great news Dave. Interesting news. This will be a change for Robben touring with the Allmans. Should be quite a matchup. I just hope they plan a venue somewhere in the South aka New Orleans... |

Ohmygod! You don't know what this means to me. I've been eagerly and patiently waiting for a Gregg Allman (and Friends) Band tour, and to have Robben Ford in the band is just immense news. Looks like I'll be needing new tires sooner than expected!
Daved, please let us know when the schedule is set.
Thanks,

Robben's kind of an interesting choice for Gregg. He must be the first guitarist that he's played with in some time that doesn't play any slide. Or is that another surprise that Robben's got up his sleeve?
I hope there'll be a live album. |

It was the Allman Brothers Band, that made me start playing the blues. It was Robben Ford that made me still playing the blues today. Great to hear that Gregg and Robben will play together!

"So Good To Love" from "Blue Moon". It's acoustic and just one song, but he can do it just fine when he wants to.
Another Allman alumni is Garth Webber. Can you imagine "Elizabeth Reed" with those two? _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

Greg has released several solo LPs outside of the ABB. I doubt they will be playing and Dickey Betts ABB tunes... Lizy Reed, Jessica, etc...
Although is would be cool to hear Robben play on those tunes. _________________ www.hendersounds.com

The Gregg Allman Band is really Gregg Allman and Friends. After the yearly Allman Brothers Band tour which usually ends in September, Gregg would put together a band of "friends", usually a lead and bass guitarist, drummer, a saxist or 2, and play his solo tunes and some ABB tunes in smaller venues and club-type settings around the US for another couple of months. Gregg would also get up from his usual spot behind his Hammond B3 and strum along with an acoustic guitar for several songs, which he does very well.
The last Gregg Allman and Friends tour was 2 years ago at this time. I saw them at the Hampton Beach Casino in Oct during that last tour, and it was a great show.

Whew! I would say that this may constitute the need for a serious road trip down to So. Cal AND the East coast. Anyone want to come with me?????
