Well, I'm slower than many of you guys, but today at lunch time I picked up a black Esprit. I'm still at the office, so I haven't taken it home to try with my amps yet, but I'll be doing that tonight for sure. Just gotta figure out how to get it in the house without the wife seeing it!
So, how many Esprit owners do we have here now? Everybody still happy with them? When I played this one in the store, I really liked the feel of the neck. Can't wait to get it home, get some good strings on it and get it set up properly. Any advice from the more experienced users here?
I'll take some pics later and post one or two here. How about pics of your Esprit's? We can start an Esprit photo album!

Hi Bill, ahhhhhh another happy owner . Great I really dug the neck the first time i played mine. but i never played an original model. I've not customised mine yet being a great proscratinator but the jack socket is really going out of order definitively soon so i will have to do a little surgery. _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=147748 |

Hi Bill, I'm still playing mine stock, too. I still love it. I haven't had that problem with the jack, either. I hope you enjoy yours.

Bill, I also look forward to your comments, considering you own the real thing. I suspect that at least tonally there will be a fair difference(!) Really enjoying mine since I changed the bridge volume pot to a 1M ohm. Brightened things up enough for me. Neck is great. Frets might benefit from a little levelling. No problems with the jack socket yet, but I think that the bridge unit lets the hardware down on mine. It's a little temperamental to set the saddles up and causes a slight occasional acoustic buzzing. Probably change that at some stage. For less than £300, it's an absolute bargain.

I hadn't actually thought about comparing them, but over the New Year holiday I'll try to find some time to compare the Esprit with the Custom Shop Elite, the MIJ RF and the Red Lady and report on the differences. The Baker RF is being sold and will be gone in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, the Esprit is pretty cool.
I just think the Europa was a better built car for a Lotus. |
