Hello everybody. I'm attempting to learn 'The Miller's Son' off of the Handful Of Blues cd. I'm stumped on one part, though- what chord is Robben playing when he goes to the IV? It's a Bb of some sort, but it sounds almost like fifths. Can someone help me out? Thanks.

Rob,

According to my trusty Handful transcription book, that's a standard Bb5 power chord, with a couple of different voicings.

In the intro you've got

---x-----------
---x-----------
---x-----------
----------3----
-----1---------
---x-----------

followed by this in the verse

---x-----------
----------11---
-------10------
------8--------
---x-----------
---x-----------

Hope that helps.

Thanks JConstant. I thought it sounded like a fifth on the intro, but I couldn't figure out how to go from that riff he plays over the I without fudging the chord on the IV. Just gotta keep on practicing. I'm pretty stoked about seeing Robben with Gregg Allman at the HOB in 'Narlins next week. Should be a good show.
