Hey, welcome to you all. I'm a high school student from Fairfax County, VA just outside of Washington DC. I am a fairly new blues fan. I mean I listened to alot of the blues rock like Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Jimi Hendrix, but the music of Robben Ford ("Keep on Running") is what got me into the blues genre. As a guitarist I play alot of hard rock and heavy metal, but I've started to learn the blues scales and styles. I actually hope to form a blues band with other students in my area with similar interests.

Introducing new genres of music into one's repetoire and experience can only open doors... creating colors, excitement, and new horizons for you.

I worked with Testament during the period that eventually lead to Metal-guitarist, Alex Skolnick, leaving the band. I don't think most of the Metal-public really knows or realizes what ever happened... why he left and where he ended up.
Alex was, and still is, a close personal friend. We shared an apartment together in Bezerkley for several years during the mid 90's, after he left the band. I was there to personally help encourage this metamorphisis along.
What happened was that Alex discovered the world beyond Metal, in particular Jazz, and since no one else in Testament was the slightest bit interested in expanding their horizons...

Alex left, experimented around the San Francisco bay area for awhile with a variety of musical styles and influences, eventually moved to NYC to formally study Jazz at one of the Music Academies, and is today quite happy to still be living there as an active part of the citiy's Jazz community.

Welcome. There are many seasoned players here who will gladly assist you with quality and experience, should you need it.
I hope the blues give you joy. Wink

Hey freakyfordfan,

You are welcomed here, indeed. Some of us have a real soft spot for students! It's so good to know that the younger generation has taste and style!

Keep on playing!

love, elizabeth (the English and History teacher) AND #1 fan! Very Happy
