Wondered what you guitar fans thought of the Live8 David Gilmour playing. I was dazzled by his playing at the show.
I guess them touring anytime soon is pretty bleak...but he would be a real pleasure to see live. The playing on Comfortably Numb was amazing.

David Gilmour is a major influence on my early playing, I loved his touch and subtlety. I thought he was in fine shape that Saturday, I was very happy and impressed. I have watched that about 4 times now, I taped it and thought this was one of the only worthwhile bands in this hole live 8.

When I watched it with a friend the next day, I said to him "I think they did this in a studio and lip/hand synced". After watching it a few times I think this was totally live, it showed his hands and they were right on, great voice too, but with a live edge.

I think the only next step for them would be to write/record and tour with the original line up. They should wheel Syd out for a song or too also Wink

It probably wont happen but this would be a great next step, and I don't mean a best of with 2 new songs.

Hello guys,
I saw David Gilmour also at LIVE 8 and was surpriced about his playing !
It was the best act on LIVE 8 !!! Hope to see them once again on tour but........ It seem that they ain't gonna tour again !? And for me they can let ROGER WATERS at home !!! (man with intelligence but...to old).
In my eyes is David Gilmour one of the best and not comparable with any other guitarist all over the world !!!
I'm a true fan of DG !

Greetings,
Fill - Brussels

I didn't get to see the show. Crying or Very sad I'm hoping for a DVD. Surely there will be one. Has anyone heard?

I love David Gilmour also, but I also enjoyed my friend Lyle Workman's playing with Sting. I knew he would change things up when he joined the band, and sure enough, he changed up some of the voicings in the tunes they played. Having known him so long, I knew exactly what he changed, even though he wouldn't cop to it, at first. It's just the way he plays. He is one of the best, check out his web site.
