Bela Fleck, Stanley Clarke, and Jean Luc Ponty are touring as a group called " Trio " I had the pleasure of hearing them at the Syracuse Jazz fest this past Friday. 3 guys playing an all acoustic set had a huge crowd completely spellbound with a vesatile set the ranged from Bach to Bill Monroe to Coltrane. All 3 are masters of their craft and excellent players, but it was Jean Luc's display of incredible virtousity that made the set special . His tone, use of dynamics and lightning arpeggio's were something to behold. I highly recomend this show.

The Bill Evans/Randy brecker Soulbop Band closed the show and i have to agree that Hiram Bullock is one fine guitarist. He has a very unusual style and use of effects that we enjoyed very much. Also, Victor Bailey is one hell of a bass player.
