In the last 48 hours I saw a 1965 Fender strat on EBay for a buy it now price of $5200. It was sunburst and had a signed note from Robben Ford dated 1997 supposedly verifying previous ownership. Seller has 100% positive feedback and is in NV, USA but apparently wants payment sent by wire to Prague, Cezk.
Price sounds too good to be true and wire transfer is definitely a red flag.
Anyone else know anything about this? |

I almost purchased this guitar from a dealer in the south east about 5 years ago. I believe it to be real, I've seen him use it live and when they were selling it it came with a letter from robben. Be careful, but he did own and play a 65 strat. |

Here is follow-up for this EBay item. I just received this email from the "real" account holder:
My EBay account was hacked into and my password was changed. Someone then listed a couple of items for a quick buy it now. EBay caught them within hours of their listing and withdrew the items. My account has been restored and I have no listings for sale at this time. Let alone what you are asking for. I have no idea what it is either. |

A 65 Strat would be at least twice this price anyway...with Robben as a previous owner, that might be more than that. |
