I got the "Blue Moon" cd last week and can't stop listening to "It Don't Make Sense (You can't make peace)"....those clean tones are killer (like the first half of "Freedom"). I can't place the guitar being used..it doesn't sound tele like, not full 'buckerish...could it be Robben's Goldtop LP w/ P90s ?

Thanks gang,

John

Definitely the Tele, mostly on the neck. Occasionally on the middle. Mostly finger picked. The way Robben plays, he gets the fattest sound out of his fingers, even when he's popping strings.
It sounds exactly like the record when he does this live. So the recording must have used his standard live settings. I have to believe he must move things around for different cuts to get all the different levels of overdrive on various songs, but he has a fairly standard setting live that bridges most of it.

I was hoping that was NOT a tele...man, no way I can figure out how to get a tone like that from my tele's neck pup. The only other guy who I've heard get a huge jazzy tele neck pup tone is Brad Paisley (using an Adder neck pup).

Thanks for the info.
