Was looking at the Pat Metheny Group Discussion board "American Garage" and enjoyed this post in a thread on Robben

BIG RF fan! Here's a story. In 1982 we buy a house in Ukiah, CA (about 2 hours north of San Francisco). After a full day of moving furniture and boxes we fall exhausted into bed and a band starts playing next door. Great! No one told us about the noisy neighbors. After trying to decide whether to go over and tell them to shut up we say "Hey, they're pretty good!" So we listen for a while and eventually fall asleep. It turns out to be Robben and his brothers jamming at their mother's house where they grew up. They played there a few more times, but I never did meet Robben. He comes back to town every few years to do a free concert-in-the-park with his brothers - in fact they're scheduled for August 21. I will definitely be there.
