My wife has just recently discovered the Blues. However, being a neophyte, her tastes aren't fully developed yet. Any recommendation on a Robben Ford disc that is "perfunctory". |

I'd go with either Handful of Blues or Mystic Mile for a first RF cd... _________________ Soul on Eleven |

My wife favors 'Blue Moon', due to the many mood swings. One moment she'll be dancing to Up the Line, then can mellow out to the sentiments of Good to Love and My Everything.
If this was an LP, it would be a frisbee by now. |

I'd go with "The Authorized Bootleg," the one recorded live at Yoshi's. With Robben on acoustic-electric Carvin guitar and a friendly audience, it has a really approachable feel. Then move up to "Talk to Your Daughter." _________________ - BlueRunner |

Good choices, Blue. I second both of those. I was going to suggest Talk to Your Daughter, but Authorized Bootleg is an even better starter.

Jaba,
I should've known that, given the diverse representation of music fans in this forum, that Robben Ford "first beginner" albums would be spread across his entire collection , although I gave you what I thought would be the "best" one or two starters, I have to agree with subsequent posts that, there are other albums that might suit your wife's "fancy" as far as Robben Ford goes...
I'll tell ya what- buy the Robben Ford New Morning: Paris Concert DVD, and both of you will be in RF heaven. Just my humble opinion...

Jaba man, heres my recommendation, for what its worth....go out, cut loose with a couple of hard earned bucks and buy the entire collection...you will eventually buy them all anyway, might as well get it out of the way and then you can let your beloved decide for herself. My wife swears one day she like one robben cd the best then a week later its a different one, so do yourselve a favor and get em all!!! you wont be sorry.

You will also need to get all the Ford Brothers cds -- no RF collection is complete without these Blues
Anyone that loves the Blues needs to have these recordings as well _________________ Travelling by train of thought |

I agree with Blue Note - you might as well buy everything you can find! My first Robben "tape" was Talk To Your Daughter! I have been hooked ever since and also enjoy the latest - Blue Moon! |
