I'll try to keep this introduction brief.

Got my first guitar in 4th grade (a mail-order dreadnaught from Sears). Played electric and acoustic guitars, and electric and standup basses, in rock and folk groups through high school and college, while also playing classical music on cello. Did college radio station jazz show. Graduated from college in 1972, went off to law school, sold instruments, and became just a listener for 30 years. Then the kids were out of college, the mortgage got refinanced to a lower rate, and I went back to my original instrument, the guitar. I'm taking lessons from a 23-year-old blues and jazz guru. Slowly but surely, some of the chops are coming back. In the meantime, we live in Santa Paula, just down the road (12 miles) from Robben and Anne Kerry Ford's home in Ojai, CA. We've never actually met either or them, but have enjoyed local performances by both. (A year ago they appeared together, along with the other three original members of the Yellowjackets, at L.A. County's intimate John Anson Ford Amphitheatre. An AMAZING show.) My first exposure to Robben Ford was through his playing with the Yellowjackets years ago, and his work with Miles Davis. But I'm also a huge blues fan, going back to my teenage years.

Glad to make all of your acquaintances.
