Mr. Daved, saw you on stage w/ The Allman Bro's at the ACL fest friday.
Warrens set w/ Gov't Mule was on fire, Medeski on keys ...wow!
Derek had a lot of energy during the AB show and Warren looked like he'd had enough of the sun. I hope Austin treated you well... cheers _________________ www.davidducharmejones.com |

Yes, D-J, it was indeed quite warm in Austin.
It was nice to see some of our friends on the Black Crows crew again and spend some time hanging with them during the day.
The local loadout crew however, were totally inept and PO'd me off in a major way as they "helped" me pack the backline gear into our semi.
The show went quite well, however.
We were a little pressured time wise as we had to cancel the Houston show and beat feet to get to Knoxville, TN, ahead of hurricane Rita.
Interesting side note:
We were 2 hours from Knoxville early the next afternoon.
I was sittiing in the front lounge of the bus by myself listening to tunes thru my headphones as I watched the miles go by, when the bus slid to a sudden stop in the fast lane.
As we had come around a bend in the highway, the traffic had suddenly backed up and Ron (our driver) had to slam on the brakes.
We were fine but as Ron watched out the rear view mirror, he suddenly shouted that a semi truck coming around the bend behind us had veered off the road onto the median to avoid the backed up traffic and had flipped over.
He immediately grabbed a fire extinguisher and leapt out of the bus and started running down the highway between stopped cars. Traffic in front of us was beginning to move again. So, as crew who had been sleeping or 'partying' in the rear lounge came forward from the back of the bus, I jumped into the driver seat and pulled the bus across the highway over to the side of the road (I was a school bus driver for many years as a day-gig during my days in Portland, Oregon during the early 80's), parked it and, along with a couple others of our entourage, leapt out and ran to the overturned semi.
A crowd of bystanders was forming from the stopped cars as we helped free the truck driver and got him out of the upside down semi. Fortunately, aside from some cuts and bruises, the driver was OK. We made sure that he was all right, that there were no fires, and that cell phone calls had been made to the appropriate emergency numbers, before hopping in the back bed of a passing pickup truck that drove us back up the highway to our own bus to continue on our way.
Just another rock & roll day in a rock & roll world! _________________ B C-ing U!
