Uh,
I went out looking for an overdrive and this thing blew me away!
Here are 3 quick samples (forgive the playing) with a Tele, Strat and 335. The amp is an Engl screamer (1st channel, gain at 10 o clock) and the delay is a dd3 in the loop:
AC Booster with Telecaster
AC Booster with 335
AC Booster with Stratocaster
It simply makes the sound big, BIG and then BIGGER!

Funny, it must fit the Engl, I never really liked it. It made my sound muddy compared to other pedals so I traded it for what I don't know.... |

Interesting you say that. It probably works well with edgy amps like my Engl.
I'm wondering whether the Zendrive thing would work well as well?
Which amp did you try the Ac booster with?

I had both the Ac and the Zendrive. I used to find the AC quite to my taste , until I received my Zendrive... The AC was sold soon after. It's still a very good pedal, but I find the Zendrive warmer, more reactive, and it has a tighter bass response. |

Hey Marin,
Nice to hear the samples from you again.
Sounds really good, especially with the Tele and Strat – has nice edge and very natural wormth. |

I tried it with my Dumble copy, Tonemaster, Mighty Mouse and 50W Marshall. I missed dynamics and concrete tone. But these analog pedals vary a lot. I have 3 BJF Baby blue OD pedals, they sound all different, only one is excellent, maybe I had a bad AC. Your clips sound great.

I think that every amp has its Ying and needs its Yang. My Engl was a bit thin and edgy so perhaps it evens out well with the AC Booster.
However, if Pierre say that the Zendrive is much better, I am curious to hear that!
Unfortunately, I understand the leadtimes are somewhere around spring time....
These days when I GAS for something I want it NOW!

Hey Marin, great to have you here again!
This Ying Yang talk you mention can only mean one thing.........a Zendrive.
Regardless of your badly inflicted GAS, you must get a Zendrive. trust me, you won't be disppointed, and it is worth any wait.
The AC is a great pedal, but the Zen is out of this world
Just to let you know, the UK "Guitarist" magazine will soon be publishing a review of the Zendrive (they actually had my own pedal for that, and I really missed it while they had it ) issue 272 (December 28th), so there you will find a totally un-biased review!
I emailed the guy reviewing the pedal and he just replied "I liked it......A LOT!!!" implying that he didn't want to part with it
Anyway, keep up the great playing,
Cheer's,

Really, really nice stuff there, Marin!
I take it that you somehow created the backing track? How did you do it, and could I please have a copy?

I have an RC and an AC Booster. I love them both. I use my RC booster (which is more of a clean boost) with my new GDS 100 W (*umble style amp). I sounds fantastic. I use the RC booster with my GDS 18 watt Marshall clone. What's great about both of these pedals is that they do not color the sound of the amp. It takes what you have an just makes it bigger. In the case of both of the amps described above, I DON'T want the tone changed.
I am thinking about getting a Zen Drive to use with my Deluxe Reverb (for my small rig). In this case, I DO want the pedal to change the sound of the amp.
This is all fun stuff!! |

Thanks DD. I am certainly curious, but I am afraid that, by the time I receive the pedal, Robben will be using another overdrive and everyone will be saying that my poor little Zendrive will be sounding as bad as my Banzai Fireball does now!
I'm only kidding....;)
