Well, I can't really imagine why anyone would care, but I'll post some background as requested.

I've been a guitar player, singer, and songwriter for over 40 years. Although my days of Spandex & blood-curdling rock are over, I still play professionally occasionally. That's one good thing about Colorado: there are many places to play.

A guitar player buddy of mine turned me onto Robben Ford *many* years ago and I have admired Robben's work ever since. It would certainly be nice if he had the sort of name recognition and popularity that some other artists enjoy.

In addition to enjoying Robben's recorded performances (and last Saturday's live performance at Copper Mountain), I have the "Blues & Beyond" and "Back to the Blues" instructional DVDs. As I am sure is the case with many of us, these lessons engender both inspiration and depression.

It is wonderful to have the sort of access to the arts that modern technology provides. We are, all of us, very lucky aren't we?

Regards,

Yeah, I can certainly relate to the depression part. The Graceland scene in Spinal Tap is coming to mind, with a little "perspective". If it weren't for modern technology and tablature, I'd be screwed. I'm not a professional musician, rather the guitar is my way to connect to a joyful state instantly. That said, I still take my learning seriously and want to keep improving, but without the media aids, I'd be pretty lost, but maybe not totally lost. Take care and welcome to the forum. I haven't been here in a couple of years. I'm glad it's still thriving.
