If you've ever pondered the meaning of "Dust My Broom" you may be interested in a new paperback book, "The Language of the Blues" by Debra DeSalvo. She interviewed many of the Blues Greats, including Robben Ford ! The book is scheduled for release in January.

I've always thought that I'd want to have my broom dusted--I just wasn't sure if I'd like it! I can't wait for this book to come out so I can find out fur sure!

Very funny Razz ...

Taken from an interview by Mojo at www.bigroadblues.com with Robert Lockwood Jr:

MOJO: And several people on Big Road Blues were trying to settle up on what "Dust My Broom" means.

RL: Dust my broom? It means you're leaving. Making a clean sweep.

The Language of the Blues by Debra DeSalvo

I'm not done with it yet, but this is a very good book ! DeSalvo pulled off some amazing interviews with living legends of the Blues. No subject matter was off limits Embarassed She also dug deep into what's been researched and published before. My mind is jumping with ideas !

Another book I highly recommend is "The B.B. King Treasures" by Dick Waterman.

I must apologize . I think i mistake a lot of things. I was sure it means:

Like the little red Rooster , i was sure it was something different........... Embarassed

I brought Back Door Man in to practice with the band yesterday and the bass player thought along similar lines to Blobby, although not limited to male 'friendships'. 'You can sing it,' was his second reaction. He was most disappointed when I told him that it refers to someone having affairs with other people's wives...

Willie Dixon wrote it for Howlin' Wolf but, as with most things blue, the blue-eyed Doors version is far more well-known. It's a great song in either version. Never could warm to Black Oak Arkansas' take, though.
