I attended the Bald Hill music Festival at the Brookhaven Amphitheater on Sunday. The show was very poorly promoted so there was hardly anyone there to enjoy the great music. I found out about this concert purely by accident surfing the internet looking for Johnny Winter tour dates and bumped into this fortunately! The facility easily seats over two thousand with additional space for at least that many people to set up their own lawn chairs and blankets on the hillside.
The sound system was very good and Robben was the third act on the bill following Phil Grande (guitarist for Joe Cocker), The North Mississippi Allstars, followed by Johnny Winter, and Joe Bonamassa. Robben played a 33 minute set which was far too short and he was clearly the best of the artists for the festival. Hillary Jones was on Drums and Andrew Ford on Bass. All of the acts played for only 30 to 40 minutes each with a short break in between each set. I wish that they had skipped the first two acts and let Robben and the others following him play an extra 20 minutes or so.
The setlist is as follows:
1) Over My Head
2) Lovin' Cup
3) The Way
4) Cannonball Shuffle
5) Aint Got Nothin But The Blues ?

I recorded the concert which has some talking going on in the background but not objectionable. The overall sound quality is very good with great dynamic range recorded in 24 bit from dead center 18th row with DPA 4061> Core-Sound Mic 2496> Coax spdif> M-Audio Microtrack> Kingston Elite Pro 4GB CF Card
I was on vacation from Ireland to New York. I saw Robben was playing at the Bald Hill mountain jam so I was only too pleased to travel the couple of hours to see him. What a pity he could only play a half hour set.
He was light years ahead of any of the other acts.
I know it`s beyond his control but he should have been the headline act and the rest only too glad to share the same stage.

I spoke with missy Hilary yesterday and she confirmed that it was indeed a disappointingly brief set.
She said it seemed like an awful long way to go to play for such a short time.
She also told me the local crew were not very helpful, sporting pretty large attitudes, making it difficult to perform comfortably. _________________ B C-ing U!
