Anyone know this? I can't make out what he's saying on the first verse:
"...don't drown yourself in gin, you don't have to take that dive."
Is this right? Doesn't sound like it. These lyircs are not available on the net, and I've got a singer audition tomorrow, and she needs them. Please help. |

That's exactly what it sounds like to me, too. "don't go and drown yourself in gin, you don't need to take that dive...". I've just listened to it three times.

spatzi, you've got it right (well, frank0936 got it EXACTLY right). According to Hal Leonard, its "...Don't go and drown yourself in gin, You don't need to take that dive. A man these days...."
Good luck. |

Thanks. You're right. That's what it is. I've known this song for 10 years, but I always thought he was saying "Don't cover yourself in tears, you don't have to take that dive." But that was without close inspection. Why can't these lyrics be found on the net? I see you can get all the other lyrics for 'Handful of blues', except this song. (and Think twice, because Beck wrote it) |
